  2. Major mistake. The end of the Cold War is what shut down the B-2 production line. NOT its expense. Note how the B-21 is merely a tweaked B-2 with (purportedly) optional drone intelligence. A ferocious price tag is no deterrent for Congress when the plane has mythic qualities.

  3. The big problem with the B-2 is that it's a maintenance pig. So you can figure that the B-21 will address such issues.

  4. The price over-runs are due to cost-shifting out of Black Programs. On the books, the US spent $0.00 on the SR-71 Black Bird, the U-2, and many another plane. ALL big ticket DoD programs are abused this way. BTW, the US spent $0.00 on the Manhattan Project, too, if you believe the public record.
