  1. What the PLAN wants is a 'Practice Lake' where they can train their submarines prior to initiating war with the rest of the planet... WITHOUT being observed every step of the way by the USN. THIS is why the PLAN freaks out even when the USN observes PLAN operations -- RIGHT NOW. BTW, due to geology, the SCS does NOT have the oil and gas reserves so commonly touted. Oil & gas requires a CAP ROCK to hold it in//down. Tectonic driven earthquakes have destroyed the integrity of virtually all of the ancient cap rock layers over eons of time. Hence the original deposits -- huge as they were -- have flowed up and out. Check out Krakatoa for how that happened. All that is left are pitiful deposits, here and there, whereas the area started out with more oil and gas than the Middle East. (!!!) So sad.
