  1. You are right... but you're wrong. EVEN NOW mites live on us as hosts. They even survive baths and showers. They are so tiny that it takes a lens to see. So the vector was not fleas, something so objectionable that everyone attends to them, but MITES, a critter we can't even feel. The mites I speak of eat dead skin. That's why you don't notice them, that and the fact that they are the ultimate "no-see-ems."
