HIMARS has already shut down Putin's main thrust in the Donbass. Yeah, THAT much ammo went up in smoke. HIMARS has already cleaned up Nova Kakhovkah. That site looks like Scotty hit it with full phasers. The fact that these machines can be so rapidly reloaded is freakish. In WWI, the Paris gun would take a month to emplace. In WWII, the Gustav gun would take six-weeks to set up... and a dedicated brigade of ~5,000 elite troops. The buzz is that America's rockets/missiles have CEP down to 2 meters. Most ammo dumps are larger than that. It looks like Biden is going to trickle in HIMARS until Putin has to pull back. If HIMARS is used against Putin's fully electrified railroad network inside Ukraine -- his army will collapse.

@randallturner9094 Yup. Three machines. Germany: 3 Britain: 3 Norway: 3 All M270 America: 12 All M142 All in all, 30 'pods' worth of shooting. I suspect that the Pentagon regards the M142 as being more survivable at this time.

@randallturner9094 HIMARS is not limited to road mobility. I don't know who started that myth. It IS true that HIMARS does best -- strategically -- if it stays on paved roads. Then it doesn't even leave disrupted soil to give its recent launch position away. 'Where's Waldo' has been trumped. In contrast, Putin's ammo dumps are ALWAYS not far off the railroad grid. So, it does not take a Big Brain to spot one from satellite imagery. Ukraine's rail line ran directly atop the dam at Nova Kakhovka. After all of the secondaries, you'd swear Scotty phasered it from orbit. The blast was recorded as an earthquake -- in Austria -- it's been said. It stands to reason. After all of these depots have been hit, Putin's boys have (largely) stopped shooting. They have to save their last ammo for defensive fires. The latest buzz indicates that the UA has broken through on a broad front across the southwest. The Russians there have no counter -- now -- to M142, M270, M777, M109 fires. Caesar, Krab and PH2000 just make matters worse. It must be plain that the dam with railroad WAS the main Russian supply route for all units west of the Dnieper.

@randallturner9094 It's all wheel drive. The US Army fielded all wheel drive GMC ( 2.5 ton ) trucks in WWII. It's tradition. Ukraine is so flat -- by off-road driving standards -- that during Summer -- armies can drive just about anywhere... and have done so since WWII. HIMARS is NOT road restricted. It's just that there's no need to leave paved roads to achieve its purpose. The one time I can imagine HIMARS going off pavement: to hide -- say in a farmer's barn. (There is no way that I would park/ hide any HIMARS in an urban setting. There are just too many eyeballs -- and Ukraine still has a massive traitor problem. Every day of the week, counter-intelligence is bagging traitors who have uploaded sensitive photos and geolocations via their cell phones to their Russian handlers. Such souls have the IQ of a bread box. Interrogations are unnecessary. Their cell phones w/ history are utterly damning.) Your thesis makes a reader think that HIMARS is as restricted as a railroad locomotive. You'd better believe that Russia is sweeping across all paved roads trying to find any HIMARS combat element. Yet, this has proved unsuccessful. ( When Russia IS successful with air strikes, Moscow does not hesitate to upload combat video to the Web.)

@randallturner9094 The answer is dry weather. BTW, re-read my missive. During WWII, the GMC 2.5 spent a LOT of time on dirt roads -- lousy, rotten, 'barely' roads. Yeah, performance was much worse than pavement. ( Still my Father's favorite truck -- the ol' Red Ball'r, with many a tale to tell. Yeah, he's still kicking - got to meet Macron and Trump. ) One would expect HIMARS to spend 99.5% of its time on asphalt. But then, I've already said that. (Indeed, I'd recommend that it never be parked -- except for crew changes and POL.) BTW, I could appeal to authority -- mine -- and it would be impressive -- overwhelming, really. But, for something so self-evident, why bother? The US Army would NEVER have accepted a war machine that had NO off-road capability. Decades ago, a naval whiz told me -- with his authority, based on experience with them -- that the F-14 was not a bomber -- just couldn't do it. As a civilian, I told him that capability was part of its USN acceptance spec -- for sure. So, at the end, the USN was racking bombs on its F-14s -- called 'em 'Bombcats.' Heh. No modifications were required. The USN had kept that capability quiet... even from its own boys.

@FreedomFox1 But Ukraine is not Russia's enemy. It's merely coveted by Putin and his crew. He also covets Poland, the Baltics -- and much else. So rolling over does not help. It whets Putin's thirst for blood.
