Here are some tips: The Soviets discovered that pressing the Germans with probing attacks was by far the best way to dope out what to do next. Results in the field determined what to do next. Moscow has maintained this doctrine. That's all that we're seeing across all fronts. The Soviets determined that, when on defense, a layered one is required -- with ready reserves at hand -- or Hell would follow. Kyiv is maintaining this doctrine. So we have two nations that largely mirror each other -- in doctrine and everything else. This is compounded by drones, satellites, the Internet. Strategic fake-outs are practically impossible. Spies, finks, traitors abound -- both sides. The end result is crawl-krieg. Ground movements have far less significance than eighty-years ago. The Big Story is if and how each combatant can pour fresh combat power into the fight. It's a war of reinforcements. Because of this, time is NOT on Moscow's side... most definitely. Putin is under the same pressure as Napoleon and Adolf. To not be quick is to be dead.

WRT Sievierodonetsk => this fight is an echo of Stalingrad: Factory fighting √ River behind the defenders√ Political compulsion by invaders √ Ebb and flow √ Artillery advantage for defenders behind the river √ Marginal involvement by air force √ Rat-war (tunnel fighting) √ Difficult logistics supplying the defenders √ Invaders see campaign victory in sight √ Invaders run out of infantry √ Invaders not trained in urban warfare √ The invading dictator is dominating all decisions √ It's not the acreage -- it's the fatalities √
