  1. The video interviewee fails to note that Stingers and Javelins and NLAWs and, and, and are all DEFENSIVE weapons. Mig-29s are fully capable of offensive warfare gambits. That's what they were designed for -- not air defense. That's a secondary role for them. The Pentagon is RIGHT. ~30 Migs are totally insignificant in the flow of the fighting. However, they would, if gifted, provide Putin with a heaven sent opportunity to re-frame his invasion as a war by Russia to thwart NATO. The Mig transfer is a brain fart. They also can't be kept in action. Mig-29s are notorious hangar queens. Whence the spare parts they'll need? The USSR? Most current nations operating them are cannibalizing the few to fly their others.

  2.  @SpreadGuts  I'm certain that the original idea was to slip in a few Mig 29s on the SLY. Such transfers could be semi-credibly denied. However, openly engaging in a bulk transfer would gift Putin what he is now desperate for: the average Ivan believing that NATO is after his homestead. Despite the fact that the US has NO territorial ambitions in Europe or Russia -- this is constantly asserted in Putin propaganda. Yes, I know, hard to believe. But he keeps pitching it. And it usually works. If it didn't, he'd issue a new, fresh, lie. 'New lies for old', the KGB mantra.
