@theshushu7940 Military doctrine dictates that long wars are ruinous. When your goal is regime change -- you want the speed of a coup. What's unfolding is the LAST thing any Putinista wants to see.

The southern axis also has no major cities. The Russians are rolling through open country-side. During WWII, both the Nazis and Bolsheviks raced through this terrain -- coming and going. It's just about as flat as a pancake. All things considered, the Russians in the south are actually moving pretty slow. This is the real reason that Putin & Company decided to debark from the Crimea. On paper, it's totally counter-intuitive. The Crimean isthmus (Isthmus of Perekop) is a famous choke point in military history. It's also true that it's not quite Winter in the South. The Black Sea warms up the Ukrainian coast, so mud is already breaking out. (Afternoons, first... then ever more and more.)

@gdiwolverinemale2745 When you're at that level of wealth,... well, even Putin doesn't know how great his stash is. Famously, Fidel Castro died a billionaire -- while Cuba was in poverty. This is typical for despotic tyrants. The mullahs, Xi, Kim -- who can know how much they've stolen. They do live the gangster life style, there's no question about that. Biden is flamingly corrupt, there's absolutely no doubt about that, but he's a boy scout compared to Putin, Xi, Kim... et. al.

It's painful; but Russian troops openly and repeatedly admit they had no idea of what was up. Putin has lied to his own troops. They are in the dark. This story is coming out everywhere -- all of the time. This hugely explains the non-performance of the Russian Army. The boys are not motivated -- puzzled, instead.

@Joetato the Hair Sniffing Pervert There is no way on Earth that Putin figured Germany to flip. No-one did. The Russian banking system is squealing in pain. The Ruble is on a path towards hyper-inflation; no-one saw that coming. Putin's aides would NEVER bring such risks up -- if they wanted to stay in his graces. BTW, the photo evidence is in: Putin distances himself from his aides -- and rather remarkably, too. Such photo-ops are as strange as anything on record. Putin keeps repeating such optics. The fact that Biden is the weakest national leader since Charles II of Spain -- look him up -- hardly needs mention. America is, at the current time, run by a collective leadership, usually dubbed the Deep State. Biden is its puppet. America has been 'led' this way before: FDR 1944-45 & TWW 1919-21. Wilson had a massive stroke -- so his wife took over. FDR had been having micro-strokes from Tehran on wards. By 1944, FDR was a basket case, propped up for the cameras. Truman was selected over FDR's objections as Congress realized he was a dead-man rolling. The USA did so well in WWII because FDR was largely out of the picture -- but IN pictures. Cute. Putin is no prophet. He's an atheist, in the first place.

@pod11th31 Based on Russian operations, one is forced to conclude that Putin's primary objective has always been regime change. Just a part of Ukraine is insufficient for Putin. If Putin had just restricted himself to the East, he would've prevailed in no time flat. Instead, he has more armies marching than Napoleon. To think like Napoleon and Adolf -- that's a brain fart -- plain and stinky.

Ukraine is a generation behind the West -- power grid wise. Restated, you can't use digital weapons against a power grid that's not even connected to the Internet. Ukraine is simply 'Old School.' At some point, it's going to dawn on the Big Brains that it's a mistake to digitally control the national power grid. It's impossible to stop hackers -- ever.

@richdobbs6595 BTW, Crimea was already quite secure. In most European national capitals, it was a dead issue. Yet Putin has put its ownership and control back in play. Yes, Putin's war has done exactly that. BTW, Crimea is a money pit -- and always has been. It's just too short on water -- and about everything else. In the Tzarist past, the Crimea was horse grazing land. (For the nobility and military.) But then, under Moscow, Ukraine proved to be a money pit. Yeltsin figured that much out. That's what ended the Soviet Union. Russia was going broke supporting every captive nation that the Bolsheviks occupied.
