@mrnoodle7517 Wrong. The OPEC players decide what they'll accept as payment. You are plainly wholly ignorant about how international trade is financed. So, just stop. Repeating ZeroHedge talking points is not insight.

@ruenrhekwon4554 It's more complicated -- and embarrassing. The US and UK stood-up the FSA -- with a training camp in northern Jordan. AQ then hyjacked the CIA/ MI-6 project (from inside, the CIA had recruited them, put them on the payroll ) to create ISIS. Instead of marching on Damascus -- it rolled into Mosul -- using CIA assets. (Mobile cell phone nodes.) The fanatics simply phoned ahead -- terrorizing the Iraqi commanders -- via their personal cell phones -- who fled in the night -- so that the fanatics could take the city without scarcely firing a shot. President Obomba termed ISIS the 'junior varsity team.' Until he left office, Obomba refused to allow most any attacks against ISIS. The Press covered for their boy, of course. Remember, Obomba is the son of the CIA. (Mother and both Grandparents were CIA employees.)

@mrnoodle7517 There is no such thing as the petro dollar. BTW, most nations DON'T buy oil with dollars. They use their own currencies -- and then have them swapped electronically -- at the last second -- into dollars at the current exchange rate. What's important is what OPEC wants to HOLD after the trade is over. THAT'S what's telling. US dollars simply trade more efficiently than any other currency. One can swap billions of US dollars and scarcely move the market. Anytime anyone uses the term petro dollar -- I know I'm reading a dunce... probably a ZeroHedge regular. The correct term is "International Money" -- the "Reserve Currency" (of the world) -- the US dollar dominates ALL international trade. Its value sets 'the cross' for all other trades.

@billfitzmaurice3837 America didn't. Paris got, essentially, no military support, no financial support for its 'project.' American pressure forced Europe to give up its colonies -- almost everywhere. This took decades to unfold. The US recognized the Philippines (7-04-1946) as independent. Within weeks, India was demanding similar status from London.
