The idea that illegal immigration has been throttled is absurd on its face. What's with this video? The real kicker is that nearby RENTS have taken off -- so that any work force compelled to pay today's rents can't get by with traditional wages. It's really THAT simple. The growers lack pricing power. So not one of them dares to pay more and charge more. Their customers, at wholesale, have monopsony power. The industry has to move to a low RENT, cheap land, location... not for the mushrooms... but for the work force. Largely that must mean moving to the Old South or to the Great American Desert. (Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and West Texas. Colorado and California are too expensive for mushroom pickers.) Looking over the posts, it's plain that most kids don't understand farming or business or monopsony.
