Market-Garden was triggered by Hitler's V-2 bombardment of London -- not Monty's words. The impulse came from Churchill. The Allies, courtesy of France, had intel that the Nazis were going to crank up V-2 production to a fearsome level in very short order. The V-2s were being launched from the island between Nijmegan and Arnhem -- at night. Then the launch teams were retreating across the bridge to hide in Arnhem. The British paras actually captured some of these troops. All of this was classified for years after the war. Even Ryan did not learn of the V-2s when researching his book: "A Bridge Too Far." LONDON was why Ike was persuaded so quickly by Monty. The V-2 bombardment of London fell way off after M-G was launched.
