Pakistan's politicians don't play politics -- they play ECONOMICS. Hence, their chronic corruption... same as back in Red China. What the targets of the Belt & Road didn't figure out -- every time, it seems -- is that most funds for Big Projects go to LABOR. The idiot politicians assumed that such funds would stay inside their own nation -- -- that the CCP would be using only elite technocrats from Red China -- not every ditch digger straight from the rice paddies. There was never a provision to use local labor in any of these dealings. The Pakistanis never dreamed that 50,000 Han Chinese would show up. And by not using a smidgen of local 'talent' the Pakistanis are left with a chronic need to pay for imported labor. (!) [ The plant's actual operators. ] Islamabad doesn't even have the option of kicking the Chinese out. No Pakistani can run anything so built -- as everything is in Mandarin. (!) This includes the labels on the equipment, the controls, the blueprints, schematics -- everything. THIS is what made the B&R so different than the World Bank, et. al. To pay off Red China, the targets need Hard Currency -- not the stuff they can print for themselves. Run the numbers, none have even remotely enough exports (to the first world) to earn such funds.
