  1. Point of IRONY alert. The US dime of WWII -- usually described as the "Mercury dime" had the Fascist, bundle-symbol, on its reverse side. It was replaced, after FDR's passing with the modern design still in mass circulation. The Fascist symbol was adopted for the dime's reverse in 1916 -- when Wilson was going to keep America out of WWI. It was plainly a sop to the American union movement.
