Marshall Alexsander Vasilevsky is my top pick. He's the primary Marshall behind Uranus. He was camera shy. So there were many occasions where Zhukov's name was substituted for Vasilevsky's. He sitting at Stalin's left hand in the Victory Photo, Zhukov is at Stalin's right hand. The missing Soviet corps headquarters were either broken up or promoted up to army status. It was quickly realized that staff officers would have to learn their roles on the job. Drastically simplifying the TO&E also became necessary. BTW, a lot of the new divisional commanders were hyper-promoted, having been mere majors, even captains, when Hitler invaded. The Germans had bagged entire armies. So the Reds were short on staff talent. Going over to mass production of a handful of successful designs was a boon to the Red army. BTW, the Big Secret of Uranus turned on spoofing and laying down land-lines for secure Soviet communications. In this, they largely imitated Guderian who also faked out both Hitler and the Western Allies. Neither party realized just how far Guderian had advanced until his feet were wet. (!!) Radio silence on the part of Soviet tankers was a HUGE part of Uranus. The German B'dienst teams had nothing to listen to but spoofed emissions. Dopy Paulus just sat still while the Russians bagged him. Idiot.
