  1. I'm amazed that you missed Soviet 'flips' of top-rated American TV fiction -- especially "Mission Impossible." The Soviet clone was a HUGE hit -- right out of the box. Indeed, the Soviets even used Hollywood's scripts, from time to time, with the villains and heroes flipped, of course. The top film that went against trope was the spoof: "The Russians are Coming! The Russians are Coming." Though not ever released to the larger public, the top brass in Moscow thought that the film was a hoot: bumbling Americans and a handsome love-lead blond Russian sweeping an American chick off her feet.
