  1. The number #1 mod: no fuel in the rear doors. (unified Germany) The number #2 mod: no missile over the 73mm smooth-bore gun. (Missile is obsolete.) ( It's a pretty 'trick' gun, BTW. ) Figure on the gun ports being sealed, too. They just never worked out. I'd bet that the Swedes 'welded entirely them away.' The BMP's main claim to fame: it's pretty fast, pretty low, and it swims. No-one wants to ride inside. It's astoundingly cramped. The Soviets employed only short troopers for such regiments. Yup.
