  1. Professor, stop already. Cooling towers are WET -- in the extreme. The vertical air (leaving the cooling tower) has 100% humidity. Because of this, any fire would die -- PDQ. The 'fire' is Photoshopped! The original image very likely WAS that of tires burning. Then Photoshop got to work. Heh. BTW, those cooling towers are NOT at the Kursk NPP. (Cute) If you just use Google Earth -- and drill down -- you'll see that the Soviets used the exact same scheme as before (Dnipro NPP) -- namely a HUGE pond --- man made -- to radiate condenser heat into the atmosphere. It doesn't have ANY cooling towers. Cute.

  2. Kursk NPP uses a massive cooling pond. It has no cooling towers. The Dnipro NPP was built to the same scheme.
