  2. That's not the standard. Putin has to 'win' by terminating his war without personal shame. But this is now impossible. Recently exposed Russian atrocities will keep Putin frozen out for the rest of his life.

  3. Putin is racing the clock. His industrial economy is imploding. Russian front lines are moving towards the Ukrainians -- so they don't need to move hardly at all. Mud cripples tanks far more than foot soldiers, especially when the infantry is sitting dug-in.

  4. The tale is bogus. The industry is just not set up to pre-blend crude oils before they hit a refinery. Putin is simply selling his stuff to Red China, India, et. al on the down low. Shell can't take the political and reputational risk of dealing in Putin's oil. And, strictly speaking, Shell doesn't need Putin's oil.
