  1. Everyone had strayed from early Christianity... which was recorded in GREEK and Aramaic -- not Latin -- the Language of the tyrannical Roman State. The use of the Greek language is why the Eastern Church is very commonly known in the West as the Greek Orthodox Church. It's with no small irony that the Latinate Church re-worked Scripture when Christianity became Rome's state sponsored religion, the flip occurred with Constantine, of course. Curiously, the re-formed Roman state did NOT promptly raze its existing (pagan) temples. Pagan theology is almost invariably based around prophecy. Hence, gambits such as examining the guts of animals and birds -- and bone-tossing. Such rituals went WAY, WAY, WAY back into humanity's Deep Past -- some 45,000 years ago -- at least. That was a tradition abandoned by Christianity and Judaism.
