  1. The REAL problem is technical support. It takes many months to train the maintenance troops. And it's the ELECTRONICS that suck down the talent... same as your car. The US Army spends more on the brains than the brawn.

  2. Abrams can burn Diesel fuel with absolutely no problems. It can burn: gasoline, kerosene, ethanol, methanol, RP-1 (rocket fuel), perfume, middle distillates ( #2 = Diesel fuel you see at the pump ) etc. One of the KEY reasons that the US Army adopted a turbine for the M1 was this very trait. One has to wonder how much the general knows if he even raises this bogus issue.
