Putin certainly IS getting a lot of Euros for his natural gas -- BUT -- Europe is now refusing to sell to Putin exactly the very stuff he needs: industrial goods.
Sanctioning Putin out of European, American, Japanese, Korean... et. al trade IS what hurts Putin. Piling up unspendable monies is no benefit for Putin.
The stuff Putin wants to buy with his energy revenues is CRITICAL to his war economy. His two biggest tank factories have been shut down because Germany will not sell him critical inputs. So, Putin CAN'T go on, and on, and on. Berlin is not being given enough credit in the American press for absolutely jamming Putin to the wall. Germany is the SOLE source for the industrial goods I'm ranting about. Putin would turn to Sweden, Britain or the USA -- but they won't sell bearings to him, either. [ You can forget India, Venezuela, Iran, and Red China. They've got nothing (industrial) for him.]
Back in the USSR, the proles were over-flowing with rubles -- on which there was nothing to spend. Putin is back in the USSR, alright! Oh, the irony.
