  1. Hawaii was never stolen or conquered -- those are Leftist tropes. Hawaii entered the Union the same way as California and Texas -- as an independent state wanting IN. Way back then, the peerage (chiefs) had to decide -- Britain or America -- who to hook up with. Since Hawaii was getting rich trading with America/California -- the chiefs decided, collectively, on the USA. Unlike California and Texas, Hawaii had to wait decades before Congress would grant statehood. This was because it was obvious -- to Congress -- that Hawaii would be a Democrat bastion. Alaska was a Republican bastion. So, they entered, side by side. No-one claims that Alaska was conquered -- but the myth of Hawaii as helpless victim in paradise forever flows. It's pure BS. Because of its strategic military location, Hawaii was ALWAYS destined to align with a major power. The only alternative, for the 20th Century, would've been Japan. Think about THAT. The chiefs thought about it -- and voted 'America.'

  2. You'd collapse the Hawaiian economy -- and cause universal distress. Hawaii lives as a DEPENDENT state. It does NOT earn its own way... not even close.
