@greattime860 It's easy: government mandates have caused the price of medical services to explode ever since they began.
At the same time, government massively restricts the supply of doctors. The number of seats at our medical colleges have not -- in any way -- kept up with our population growth. Only 1/3rd of our doctors hold American degrees. Another 1/3rd have degrees earned at schools in Grenada, Mexico, the Caribbean, generally. These are schools -- exclusively for Americans -- that should actually be inside the USA -- but could not obtain the mandated government permits to even be built.
Another 1/3rd of our doctors hold medical degrees from the 3rd World. There are practically no immigrant doctors from the First or Second Worlds.
(These are the doctors who constantly show up in medical fraud cases, BTW. Yes, just a criminal sub-set. But the monies involved boggle the mind.)
When you drastically reduce the talent supply, the price per labor hour EXPLODES. Duh. When I was a kid, the doctor two-doors down drove a new Caprice every other year. Today, I know of no doctor who drives anything but a luxury make. My optho drove a Rolls-Royce -- and not second-hand. His Lasik cost me $2,000 an eyeball. (He was worth it.)
But, in answer to your question: Liberal (governance) notions of how things should work in a just world have created these results. Any more 'medical justice,' and we'll all be on our knees eating grass.
