Nope. Lend-Lease aid is not ever expected to be paid back. Back in WWII, little was ever paid back, either. The USA is just giving Kyiv grants. Said grants are expected to be spent, largely, on US war products, medical products, even foods. But no small amount of it is to be spent at Zerenskyy's discretion. (Fuel & electrical imports.)

@nameless7699 Hardly. Selling to the Pentagon comes with a host of profit restrictions. The actual financial benefits flow to the American labor force, just the way Congress wants it. If you want to make Big Bucks -- become a Digital Giant. That's where the Big Bucks are made these days. It is Putin who is making Ukraine so reliant on Western military and economic aid. If he wasn't killing and raping his neighbor, there would be no conflict. See how logic works ?

@nameless7699 With the whole industrialized world out against Putin -- Adolf could lay out how it all must end. Ukraine's war industries lay west across the NATO border. They are just picking up steam. Putin's war industries are already hamstrung. (Red China, India, these are semi-industrialized nations.) It's IMPOSSIBLE to make real money selling to India or Red China. They are too poor. It really is that simple. They also can't supply the physical -- the real goods that make Putin's war machine click. Putin's air fleet must end up grounded... PDQ. His locomotives will eventually choke on the lack of Siemens replacement parts. His rocket engine exports have crashed to zero. They had been money spinners. And so it goes. France and Germany would love to turn turtle. Their problem is that all of their key trading partners won't let them. Munich (1938) is not forgotten. It's a memory that neither nation wants revisited. And then, Putin has by now figured out that his tanks are rolling coffins. His air force and navy must stay away from close attacks. What we're witnessing is Putin's last surge -- something that Adolf felt in November 1941 -- Typhoon.

@Relax25588 The oil that Putin exports from St. Petersburg sails in hulls he does not own, captained by aliens, with foreign crews. The ships involved are, by industry standards, shallow draft. (Not ULCC, not VLCC) They are mere super-tankers. The Gulf of Finland is too shallow to bring in the Big Boys. Should Putin manage to contract a ship -- said ship can't sail to India, let alone Red China. They were never built with sufficient fuel bunkers. They would need to refuel along the way. But no NATO, no Western, nation will permit it... AND no Western crew will show up. It's for the above reasons that only a modest increase in oil sales by Putin to India are even possible. As for Red China, they are getting theirs by pipeline and by Putin's Far Eastern terminal. Both are maxed out -- and have been for some time. But, ultimately, Putin is piling up cash like a criminal baron. He (largely) can't spend it -- not on the physical trade goods that he requires: microchips, PLCs, bearings, tool bits, etc. That's why his two largest tank factories are on hiatus. Like Ford and GM, they face a chip shortage. Unlike the American giants, Putin's factories can't fix the shortage. BTW, the vast bulk of Putin's tank park sits as Siberian rust. They'd have to be re-manufactured -- and that would take too long to affect events.

Putin has been losing his Black Sea fleet -- to missiles. And more of these are coming, PDQ. Putin's navy is about to lose a sea to an army. Now that's weird.

@keimcpartlan7434 What's weird is how Putin has expanded NATO -- rather dramatically. What's weird is that Ukraine will be re-built at the (financial-economic) expense of the West -- with the US taking the lead. That's what Biden's signature on Lend-Lease means. Zelenzkyy has a $40,000,000,000 pre-paid debit card in his palms. Kyiv has a budget equal -- and soon greater than -- that of Putin. The West is going to entirely re-build Ukraine's economy, its debt of honor. The Ukrainian defenders paid in blood -- the West will pay in every other way. Putin will pay with his neck. Kyiv (and Minsk, too) will end up inside NATO. ( Belarus will have its revolution. ) Eventually, Moscow will end up inside NATO. This shift will be essential to thwart the Chinese Communist Party -- which still wants Siberia back. Don't you doubt it. Frenemy, indeed ! Whether the CCP can survive Xi - that's an open question. Zero Covid = the end of the Red Chinese miracle. The West is certain to take its game to Vietnam, India, Indonesia -- even the Philippines. In the meantime, Putin's project will starve millions across Africa. What a guy ! He ends up destroying more lives than Adolf Hitler -- previously considered an impossible feat.

@TheLapster Scarcely mentioned in the popular news, Putin has lost quite a few minor combatant ships: patrol craft, landing craft. The Ukrainian missile threat has (largely) forced the Black Sea fleet to back away from Odessa. If you can't deploy your fleet, then you've lost its utility. Putin is so furious that he canned the admiral commanding the Black Sea fleet. I'm not an actor. Since the Falklands dust-up, missiles have been taking down substantial ships. As for Snake Island, it has proved to be a fiasco for the fleet.
