  1. In Japanese culture those who butcher meat derived from cattle, goats, sheep are stigmatized. They are deemed of lower caste. This goes back to the trauma of 536AD in Japan. The four-legs of such critters has made the very number 4 to be deemed bad luck. ( In Chinese culture, the number 8 is deemed very good luck -- an infinite life. See Tom Hanks in Castaway for how this connection ever arose. Rotated 90 degrees, 8 becomes the Greek symbol for infinity. This all links back to paleo-astronomy. BTW, Boeing delayed the 787 so as to launch it August, 8th... entirely to make the good luck connection for the Chinese market.
