  2. European officialdom can't get their heads around the fact that non-European MEN (by blood) are in the 'refugee flow' at levels of 20%ish when they don't amount to 0.1% of Ukraine's population. They are seen as simply more economic migrants -- who's last thought is to return to their homelands. The presumption was that Ukrainian refugees would consist of women and children, because military aged Ukrainian men are not allowed to flee. To prioritize African or Arab Muslim MEN is to kick women and children out into the street -- as the system is capacity limited. It's a puzzle as to why such MEN are even in the queue. They are not utterly dependent upon others. Yet they are weeping for the dole... first in line.

  3. The typical Palestinian of today is not of native blood -- that is -- they are immigrants from greater Araby. When it became obvious that a VOTE was going to be held; (1947-48) all Arab despots did everything possible to shove their poor into the British mandate. A huge influx actually came from Iraq. (Check the official statements, check the record.) These poor folks were often encouraged at the point of a bayonet. Naturally, they arrived penniless. This forced migration was performed to stop European Jews from out-voting the real long-term residents. Even in the film "Exodus" this aspect of history is skipped entirely by. The reason the Gazans don't get along with the West Bank -- Gazans are ethnically Egyptian. Check the record. Gaza was an Egyptian military post -- with lousy water -- and virtually no-one living there -- until -- like the Palestinian Arabs -- Cairo shoved the poor into Gaza. It's hard to believe that Gaza once had virtually no civilians living there -- at all -- for centuries. (Rotten water quality.) Now it looks like Waikiki beach, high-rises and all. Every Gazan is on permanent vacation -- courtesy of Europeans guilty about the Holocaust.

  4. Snyder -- "the black earth" -- totally misses what Stalin and Adolf were obsessed about: Met Coal. (Coking Coal ie iron reduction coal) The reason that Mariupol is such a Big Deal -- it's Steel City. It sits atop one of Earth's biggest, sweetest met coal deposits. The locals have been at mining it for about a century. You locate your steel mill (transportation theory, here) atop COAL not iron ore -- because you end up needing far more met coal than any iron ore. For Stalin, met coal from the Donbass was shipped all the way to Gorky. ( In 1932, the city of Nizhny Novgorod became the city of Gorky. ) This was Steel City for the USSR -- hardly different than Pittsburgh in its national and industrial significance. Its stats would blow you away. Mariupol was Stalin's second steel city. (Allentown was America's second steel city.) [Bethlehem Steel, anyone ?] (America's best met coal, today, still comes from West Virginia. And it's also exported in grand style.) Putin is flattening Mariupol to de-industrialize Ukraine. Adolf would heartily approve. Morgenthau had the same exact plan for post-war Germany, too. Putin WANTS to drive Ukrainians back to their farms. No wonder he's flattening everything industrial in Ukraine. Duh. ( The talking-heads have the microphone -- but don't inform, much. ) The destruction of Ukrainian steel production makes Xi's heart flutter.

  5.  @dannymayhem3349  When a building hugely labeled 'kids' is struck by air -- that's deliberately targeting kids. (And dead on target, too. Great shooting, Putin.) This is not a 'one-off' affair, either. If you want a building destroyed -- just label it 'kids' -- and the Russians will blow it up for you. The Russian Army has just hosed down tiny villages with no military value -- just for fun. Fleeing civilians -- in their cars -- in convoy -- have been shredded by Russian forces. (Helicopters, assumed, based on damage patterns.) The butcher battalion of Bucha -- is elevated to Guards status by Putin... BECAUSE of their atrocities -- Putin strikes again. As for the fun in the Donbass: Putin's FSB/KGB boys started the whole shoot-em-up back in 2014. They never stopped shooting westward. The gambit was so transparent -- even then -- by those there -- that your contentions fall flat.

  6. Knuckleheads: the USA has imposed tariffs precisely to stop Red Chinese 'dirty steel.' You can't leave Red China out of the steel picture. She produces ~65% of all the world's steel at this time. This is so much that an astonishing fraction is at a loss. This is what happens with (CCP) central planning. They can't stop -- even though it hurts. Of course, the environmental pollution created by Red Chinese steel operations is horrendous. It's so bad that the locals are howling to the heavens. As for other producers -- they are trivial factors in the world market. (Turkey, et. al.) As big as Ukraine's plant is, it's a small player -- globally. Putin wants Mariupol BECAUSE taking it must destroy Ukraine's industrial base. The land-bridge BS is utter nonsense. Putin built two massive bridges to Crimea, rail and road, (across the Kerch Strait) so he has no need for land other than his imperialist ambitions.
