@jryu90 Also, if you remove the top 10 most violent cities then the USA isn't even in the top 100. Side note, those top 10..no, top 25 worst cities are nearly all under Democrat rule and have the largest amount of private sector officers and the worst funding per capita for their public officers.

@jryu90 Again, try to purchase a firearm, or just do the paperwork for it. Seeing is believing. I'm certified as a private sector officer with arrest authority and I still have to go through a background check through state and federal agencies before I can purchase. That includes mental health history.

@jryu90 Keep in mind that an FFL, a dealer, is required to pay extortionate amounts of money to obtain and renew their licenses. They aren't too keen on losing their license to do business.

@jryu90 No, we have specific locations which have a homicide issue which is driven by specific policies in place in those locations. Correlate violent crime with incarceration rates. Most private prisons are owned by CCA, Corrections Corporation of America.

@jryu90 2019 6368 by handgun 3281 all other types including semi auto rifles, bolt action rifles, micro conversions (handguns), short barrel rifles (most fire handgun calibers), shotguns, break barrels and all others. 1476 by knives. Just over 400 of the 3281 were with semi automatic rifles, far less than knives, yet what does the news tell you? Black rifle bad. Also, California alone has a higher population than Australia, Canada and especially Switzerland. I could show you states with the same populations as those countries and much less violent crime. People often forget how large the USA is and how different policies are from state to state.

@jryu90 Also, correlate gun ownership and crime. The places with the highest legal gun ownership have the lowest crime. Look at Vermont and Virginia.

@jryu90 But looking at the numbers, it's not really an issue of "gun control" or increased background checks. Most firearm violence is committed with illegal firearms, not with legally purchased firearms.

@jryu90 The NRA is probably the worst gun advocacy group. Gun owners don't even like them. There's an old adage; " Better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it."

@jryu90 The amount of crime prevented by legal gun ownership far outweighs that of crime done with legally purchased firearms. Vermont is evidence of this.
