@MariaMartinez-researcher That's just common rhetoric, not really based in reality. China has never had natural salt peter and their only sulfur extraction is chemical, a form of extraction which didn't exist until after the west had artillery and long canon. China did not invent gunpowder. What they did have was niter from excrement and charcoal, which they used to create thunderclaps and fire lances.
