  2. It's not a NASCAR and Henri is also mistaken. The design isn't far from GTE B.o.P regulation. It shaved 200kg to get closer to GTE cars but was still 80kg heavier. GTE doesn't have a horsepower limitation, just balance of performance. The ZL1 would probably need to lose some hp and/or downforce, depending if driver assists are considered but I don't know. Remind me, when did Porsche beat its American GTE rival? "But put it up against an unrestricted LMP car with double the horsepower" lol. Hype, no hype, doesn't matter. The numbers don't lie. The Camaro dominated from the start. The 919 is slower than the Toyota and even the Russian BR Engineering Dallara BR1 which has 170 less horses. Remember how the Oreca Viper wiped the floor with everything from 1998-2000? Their Rebellion R13 also wiped the floor with the 919 at Sarthe. Cope harder.

Tube chassis is nearly identical to NASCAR, just 500lb lighter, 2 inches longer, 6 inch spoiler instead of 4. Besides that, nearly identical.

Aero is almost the same as the endurance package which uses a 7 inch spoiler, Garage 56 used 6 inch, super speedway package uses 4 inch. Still not a NASCAR but it's not far off.

Daytona config runs 510-550hp, super speedway package runs 670hp, Aston ran 670 so LM-GTE runs 670hp like LMH, nothing over 677hp is allowed. Garage 56 edition Camaro has 650hp, might be an indication. LMGTE 2745lbs, Garage 56 Camaro 2960lbs. The entire GTE field also had years of practice and tuning for this track and race. Ferrari also still got beaten by Corvette.

  13. That's after the gearbox blew when Button missed a downshift. People are still impressed by the performance. It was ahead of the entire GTE field, ran a faster qualifying lap than all GTE cars and some hypercars, only the Corvette had a faster lap time during the race among GTE cars. They did an outstanding job.

  25. Also keep in mind, their cars had been tuned and had their configurations perfected for this track and race over many years. Garage 56 may be experimental but they were still subject to track limits and regulations.

Corvette has been dominating the field for decades.

The C8.R debuted at 2020 Daytona where it took the pole in the #3 and the Corvette team's 100th IMSA victory. The race car has 255 less horsepower than the production ZR1, limited to 500hp.

  50. The revs were limited so it could run the extended race. Probably closer to a Daytona setup where they run 510-550hp, but the super speedway config uses 670hp on the same motor and a 4 inch spoiler. Le Mans regulations allow 677hp at any given time. Hypercar is limited to 670, in LMGTE The Aston ran 670. The Garage 56 edition Camaro comes with 650hp which should tell you something.
