The EU has exported ZERO vaccines. The European vaccine companies are exporting vaccines to cover their orders. P.s the UK is in Europe.

@maddwarf7976 The EU will have to void legally binding vaccine supply contracts to stop vaccines being exported. Breaking International Law. If your foolish enough to defend the EU Commissions failures that are clearly effecting every EU country. (effecting your own countries economy) Causing lives to be lost across the EU. Please try to justify WHY the EU Commission waited over 3 months to order vaccines, after the UK had ordered vaccines? Which delayed manufacturing across the EU. Even worse is the fact that the UK sent letters of intent to order vaccines if they managed to produce an effective vaccine in June 2020, which is 6 months before the EU Commission finally woke up.

@lssnow8195 The UK got a guaranteed of supply contract from AZ. The EU only got a best effort clause which does not guarantee anything.

@lssnow8195 The EU only got a Best Effort contract, which does not guarantee the EU anything in a set period of time. The UK did get a guaranteed supply agreement with AZ. The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine research was funded by the UK at Oxford University, which means the UK partly owns the patent on the AZ vaccine. Which is why the UK has given vaccines to over 50% of the adult population.

@lssnow8195 AZ isn't competing for contracts. AZ is selling the vaccines at cost price. Roughly £1 per dose. Compare that to the other Covid vaccine companies charging £6-£9 per dose. AZ is producing vaccines at zero profit. The EU's Best Effort contract does not guarantee the EU a certain volume of vaccines in a set period of time. There was not a promise or a guarantee.

@lssnow8195 The whole world is desperate for Covid vaccines. Yes the UK was fortunate to have the freedom to act fast. Yes every country around the world is jumping through hoops for vaccines including the UK. I dont wish any harm on anyone or any country. I hope this whole mess is sorted out soon for everyone. My whole point was that the EU Commission manipulates the facts to cover up their failures. Even today VDL said "Europe" through Covax is the world largest exporter of vaccines. Yes that is true because the UK as part of Europe and the UK has funded Covax with 500 Million which is far more than the EU has funded Covax. Yet VDL tries to pretend those European vaccine exports are down to the EU. The UK's AstraZeneca vaccine has been licensed for production in India and Australia (India is the largest vaccine producer in the world). So the reality is the UK has done the largest distribution of vaccines around the world.

@lssnow8195 Compared to the EU who said the AZ didn;t work on the over 65's at the same time demanding more AZ vaccines from the UK's production plant. Now the EU is only giving vaccines to the elderly over 65 years old. The UK isn't asking for anything. The UK funded and produce the most effective Covid vaccine available for Zero Profit. Plus AZ licensed the production of their vaccine to India and Australia. The UK isn't begging for anything because the UK part owns the AZ vaccine patent.

The EU Commission using Blackmail in an attempt to jump the vaccine queue. After Brussels failed to order vaccines in a timely manner. Allowing countries around the world to order vaccines 3 months before the EU placed an order for Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines. Now the whole world has seen the EU leadership cant be trusted. Including the normal hard working citizen's living inside the EU, who are being effected the most by failures of Brussels.

@maddwarf7976 Do you understand the UK placed orders for vaccines in September to cover the UK populations and more. The EU Commission only ordered 40 Million vaccines at the end of December and a second order for 300 Million in January. The EU Commission failed to order vaccines on time. Months after stopping countries like Germany and Italy ordering their own vaccines. This is directly effecting the normal people living in the EU.

@maddwarf7976 Simply put. The UK signed a guaranteed supply contract and they EU was late to the party and signed a best effort contract. Which means AZ would try to supply vaccines to the EU but there is no guarantee. Do you understand the French vaccine company Valneva moved their Covid vaccine research and development and manufacturing plant to the UK in September because the EU Commission wasn't interested in funding them. https://valneva.com/research-development/covid-19-vla2001/ Valneva is producing a vaccine that will be easy to adapt to future strains/variants of Covid. The UK has already placed a provisional order for 190 Million vaccines from Valneva and the EU/EC are still in talks to order 60 Million. The UK has acted fast at every stage, which is why the UK has given vaccines to more than 50% of its adult population and the EU has only given vaccines to 11% of the population.

@maddwarf7976 Is that your best reply when i provided a link to the French vaccine company Valneva website. Which proves they moved to the UK in September and the UK has agreed a provisional contract for 160 Million vaccines.

@maddwarf7976 It proves again that the EU was slow to act on investing in vaccines. The same way it was slow to act in investment and ordering of AstraZeneca vaccines, compared to the UK.

@maddwarf7976 Again your trying to use half truths to justify the EU Commissions complete failure. The UK invested in the research and development of the AZ Vaccine. Giving the UK part ownership of the AZ vaccine patent. Why would the UK invest Billions into lots of different vaccine companies research and developments and testing unless it had a legally binding contract for reliable vaccine supplies? The EU Commission has admitted they invested in Covax and that the EU backed the wrong horse. Instead of investing in vaccine research the EU waited to order vaccines once they were at the second stage of testing. The letter of intent to purchase AZ vaccines by the UK in June 2020 gave the UK a 3 month head start. So the fault lies with Brussels.
