This is because of the EU Commission's failure to order vaccines in a timely manner.
27
The EU Commission failed to order vaccines in a timely manner. Now they attempt to blame the UK for the EU Commissions failures.
22
Did you notice Gretta won't mention China any more.
21
Sadly Germany will be in lockdown for a second summer because of the EU commissions failure to order vaccines and they blocked Germany and other EU countries ordering vaccines.
18
The UK is giving out more than 500,000 vaccines per day. Why has macron been so slow?
16
At last someone questions the WHO's failures. We all know the WHO is controlled by China. Time to stop buying anything from China.
8
Is this why they are deporting more people than ever before? Germany now records the number of serious injuries recieved to there special teams of police that arrest and deport people. The number of injuries is staggering. France changed the way they let people apply for a residency permit. France put the system online and limited the number of applications allowed. Many immigarnts cant make an application for 2 years which make there stay in France illegal. If they are caught in France illegally because people cant access and get an appointment to make an applictions to stay in France they are arrested and deported. Lets see what these words from the EU really mean in reality. Is this the EU making the right noises but doing nothing again?
8
Macron has failed. He is to busy attacking the UK and attempting to blame the UK for his failure. Instead of dealing with the pandemic.
8
SNP=15 years of Failure.
8
Oh come on. Russia won't take any notice of the EU. Germany will still complete the Nordstream2 gas pipeline and pump natural gas from Russia to Germany. This is just noise and bluster from the EU commission.
7
Germany which is a major player in the EU supports trade with China.
7
There are almost Zero Covid deaths in the UK. So this is Utter Nonsense.
7
@normalhuman6581 I have seen the satellite images that show pollution from different countries. China is by far the largest polluter on earth.
6
Germany is the power house in Europe but it was lead down the garden path by the EU Commission who stopped Germany ordering vaccines on their own. Now Germany is paying the price for trusting the EU Commission. I fear there will be riots across Europe this summer, when they face a second summer in lockdown.
6
@AndersHenke The UK funded and developed Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is being sold at cost price. Costing £1 per dose. Compare that to the other Covid vaccines costing £6-£9 per vaccine. The UK has licensed the AZ vaccine to be manufactured around the world for zero profit and the EU still attacks the UK because they couldn't be bothered to order the vaccines until three months after they banned individual EU countries like Germany and Italy ordering their own vaccines. All because the EU Commission was on a power trip/grab. There was Zero cost saving by letting the EU Commission take control of ordering vaccines. They put countries like Germany at the back of the queue. Do you understand EU based vaccine companies have exported 300 Million vaccines around the world? Only 10 Million of those have gone to the UK. Yet Brussels makes the UK enemy number one??? Those 300 Million vaccines have been exported because of contractual agreements that were signed months before Brussels finally decided to order vaccines. Brussels has made AZ a scape goat for their failure to order vaccines. How can Brussels negotiate a better price on AZ vaccines when they are being sold at cost price?
6
Karma comes back to bite the French politicians on the backside.
6
@luisfigointer So why have EU countries Poland and Hungary had to buy Russian and Chinese Vaccines? This had nothing to do with testing vaccines. The EU Commission FAILED to order vaccines or even send a letter of intent/interest. Which would have stated they would place orders (for a certain number of vaccines) once all the tests were completed. How do you defend the EU Commission stopping Germany and other EU countries placing orders and then the EU Commission placed their order/letter of intent to order more than 3 months after the UK? That meant the whole of the EU27 is at the back of the queue behind many countries around the world. Will you still attempt to defend the EU Commission when most of the EU27 will spend a second summer in lockdown????? Will you still try to defend the EU Commission failures when thousands of lives will be lost across the EU and the UK is out of lockdown for the summer????
4
This speech wont fix the complete mess the EU has made of the vaccine rollout. It was Brussels that stopped Germany and other countries ordering vaccines. Then Brussels took months to make vaccine orders. How can anyone trust the EU Commission now?
4
People travelling to China are forced to pay inflated prices to stay in hotels being used for quarantine, for 14 days. Splitting up families if one parent is Chinese and the other parent is not. Chinese people go to one hotel and people who are not Chinese get sent to a different hotel.
4
Gather the fruit loops and lock them away.. They are all in big groups.
4
The UK signed a supply contract as part of the funding of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines research and development. The EU based vaccine manufacturing companies have exported 300 Million vaccines around the world as per their legally binding supply contracts. The UK has only received 10 Million of those vaccines from the EU base vaccine companies. So why is the UK enemy number one???? The EU Commission attempts to mislead everyone into thinking they are supplying those 300 Million vaccines around the world but they have nothing to do with the vaccines supply contracts with countries outside the EU. Which is why the EU is at the back of the queue for vaccine supplies.
4
@malcolmcrick1150 What about using vaccines from the French vaccine company Valneva? Or the Novavax vaccine? Both will be manufactured in the UK. Valneva moved to the UK in September because the EU wasn't interested in funding their Covid vaccine research and testing and they have built their vaccine production factory in the UK. Valneva could easily be the most important covid vaccine over the next decade because it is easily adapted to new stains/varients of Covid and uses none active/inactivated components which makes it far safer.
4
@themsmloveswar3985 I think it's very sad. Germany tried to order vaccines about the same time as the UK and the EU Commission stopped Germany and other EU countries ordering vaccines. Then the Commission took more than 3 months. For all the differences between the UK and the EU, no one would would wish the ongoing Covid mess on anyone. I have friends in Germany. They tell me they are facing another lockdown and it's hard to see how they will see freedom from that this summer. The UK is seeing a massive drop in Covid numbers because they were able order vaccines in good time. So i understand why my friends in Germany are upset and frustrated and angry.
4
More EU commission smoke and mirrors to cover up the EU's failures.
3
Two month too little too late from Germany.
3
These are sanctions on a few individuals. Those names were probably handed over by the CCP.
2
@luisfigointer That is because the UK records Covid as a cause of death if it is found in a blood test after death. Not because covid caused the death. If you have a fatal car crash but had covid 4 months before the car accident, or died of cancer but caught covid in hospital. They are all recorded as covid deaths. If any of the EU recorded covid deaths in the same way the UK does, many EU countries would have equal or possibly higher covid deaths recorded. In a normal year Flu deaths would be 50,000-70,000 deaths in the UK and in the past year that number is just over 400. Yes the UK's vaccine programme has proved to be effective in vastly reducing covid hospital cases and deaths. So the UK is winning the covid battle but the covid war carries on around the world and this will be an ongoing battle that is never truly going away. Covid will come back every year like the flu, with new variants. Sadly this is something that has effected everyone around the world and will carry on effecting everyone for years to come. In our lifetimes and our children's lifetimes. The longer it takes to get under some sort of control the more likely there will be more dangerous variants. Which is why every country should act quickly.
2
@salmasfao4198 The world is moving forwards, not looking backwards. You cant stop changes. The world keeps turning and people in every country want a better future for the children. Smothering growth and global trade with restrictive rules and regulations wont help to improve peoples lives. Yes any country or group of countries can shut the door on the world but they get left behind. Look at the devastating effects on the people of N Korea and China. While its good for countries to be self sufficient, the countries that thrive are democracies. While dictatorship always fail their own people.
2
Sadly the Germany government refused to spend 2% of GDP on military as part of NATO requirements (for many years)
2
@CrazyLeiFeng That wouldn't surprise me. They seem to stop at nothing to gain wealth and power. The whole EU project was designed to filter wealth and power and industry and jobs to Germany at the cost to all the other EU members. Any industry that has a good profit margin has either been move to Germany or it's owned by German share holders. Germany imports almost 1 Billion Euro of goods from China every day, which Germany floods the whole of the EU 27 with cheap Chinese junk. Germany makes the profit and at the same time destroys every industry in every town and city across the whole of the EU. Look at Spain and France for example. Spain was in the top 5 wealthiest countries in the world before they joined the EU and France was in the top 10. Since joining the EU Spain has dropped down to about number 25 and France isn't in the top 30. Trust me when I say I truly love France and Spain and I remember visiting them many times and spending many fond evenings with French and Spanish people over the years. It is horrible how their economies have been asset stripped over the past 20 years by the rules and regulation of the EU commission, who are controlled by the German elite. It's not the fault of the normal had working people of Germany. Now that bubble is about to burst because there is nothing left inside the EU to asset strip. They have pushed the EU 27 to breaking point. To the point where loans given by the German financial institutions are seriously at risk of default. Look at the way the EU/Germany treated Greece. France/Italy etc have a national debt that has spiraled out of control, that will take many decades to repay (if ever)
2
@starvictory7079 I totally agree with you but our governments are the ones that allowed this to happen. Ironically a lot of large Chinese electronics manufactures have moved their production out of China because the labour costs in China are too high. The products still say made in China but they are manufactured in other parts of Asia, India and Africa. There is a manufacturing boom in places like Indonesia and Vietnam. People in China demand higher wages so it's cheaper to move the manufacturing out of China. The other reason it those "Chinese" factories in other countries cant be controlled so much or put at risk by the CCP taking over those factories. Many of the most wealthy business owners in China have been targeted and even put in prison by the CCP and suddenly those companies are under "New management/ownership" with loyal senior CCP running everything. That is why the USA has put export restrictions on micro chips to China. That has forced the price of micro chip up 500% and even recycled micro chips from old circuit boards sell for the same price. So dont expect cheap electronics from China for much longer.
2
@diazcastro7331 Thankfully your wrong. The UK's infection rate is very low since the vaccine rollout started. I genuinely hope your country has the same vaccine success. I wouldn't wish harm on anyone.
2
@RubiaStorm Sorry but you have been mislead. The UK order vaccines in September. The EU commission placed orders at the end of December. After the EU Commission stopped individual countries ordering vaccines on their own in late September. The UK sent a letter of intent to purchase in July. (Together with funding) If you honestly believe what you say? That would mean the EU is only 2 weeks behind the UK on vaccines. So that would mean in 2 weeks time the EU will have given vaccines to 30% of the EU's 440 million people. You have more vaccine production plants inside the EU than the UK has. Please explain to me how the EU commission will increase the number of vaccine given from 8% in 8 weeks, to 30% of the EU's population in the next 2 weeks????? The reality is the EU Commission is still about 3 months behind the UK because they delayed the manufacturing and distribution testing by 3 months. The UK will be out of lockdown by May/June of this year and many of the EU27 will still be in lockdown in September. I genuinely hope and pray the normal hard working people living under EU control do recover from Covid sooner but the facts and figures simply dont show that will happen. Sadly those additional 4 million vaccines wont make a massive dent in the numbers.
2
@nothereandthereanywhere Everyone needs to do their bit. We are all in this mess together.
2
India needs to take a stand against the Russian war criminals.
2
Oh dear. LOL. The French politicians act like thugs and then wonder why other countries don't want to deal with them. Macron is a complete failure. The whole world was watching Macron when he backed the EU on banning vaccine exports to Australia and basically banned vaccine exports with so called vaccine export restrictions. The French politicians proved them can't be trusted on the world stage. (not the first time either)
1
The EU is controlled by a unelected unaccountable dictatorship in Brussels. No one in the EU can stand in judgement of the UK.
1
September is a long time to wait for a vaccine? I know we have been lucky in the UK for vaccines. I caught Covid early last year and it was scary. Im well under 50 years old and i have had my first AZ vaccine. My friend who under 40 years old (he has a health condition) was offered a vaccine 4 weeks ago. I wish you all the best for the future and hope you get a vaccine very soon.
1
@bogstandardash3751 I think it's only a matter of time before the next country leaves/escapes the EU. I'm not a betting man but if Germany takes a big hit by this third wave of Covid. After the EU banned Germany from ordering their own vaccines. Hungary and Poland have one foot out the door. If Le Pen gets into power, she might give the French an Independence referendum.
1
@OutragedPufferfish The whole of the EU has a slow vaccine rollout. Australia has a new vaccine plant which starts production soon. They learned quickly the EU is not a reliable place to by vaccines.
1
@myrtleesther8855 They are at less risk of death or serious illness from Covid once people have the vaccine. I caught Covid last year and i can assure you it was scary. I'm well under 50 years old and i'v had my AZ vaccine. Yes i am in the UK. I dont wish harm on anyone in the EU. I hope people everywhere get access to Covid vaccines very soon. Then they have a choice to have the Covid vaccine or not to have it. I wouldn't preach at people either way. It's a personal choice.
1
Germany does nothing to help the people in Ukraine. At the same time paying Billions to Putin's for Russian gas. Surely that is Bloody on German politicians hands?
1
The UK funded and developed Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is being sold at cost price.
1
So desperate to spread EU lies, in hope they can force the UK to rejoin the EU.
1
China agreed to do trade with Germany. China sells 260 Billion euros of good to Germany but buys very little from Germany. That effects German manufacturing and jobs badly. That is roughly 0.7 Billion euros of Chinese goods flooding into Germany every day of the year.
1
The Combination of vaccines and herd immunity. Your predictions are impossible. While in the Euro Zone will be luck to be out of lockdown by the end of summer.
1
@nothereandthereanywhere Every country in the world was caught out by Covid. Yes mistakes were made. The medical people giving advice to the government would have us all on permanent lockdown. At least the UK government made a better jobs than the EU did. There was loads of opposition to the UK not joining the EU's joint medical procurement system. Then everyone moaned the UK was invest much more than the EU on vaccine research and development and manufacturing. Those choices were the right ones for the UK. Yes the track and track was a failure. Weighing up everything, the UK government got us out of lockdown. The EU will be in lockdown for a second summer.(possibly the Autumn as well) Plus the additional economic impact in the EU. One think is for certain the UK's economy is going to bounce back faster than the rest of the world and the UK's vaccine rollout is the best in the world. The next big thing is keeping new variants outside the UK and if that means the UK has to miss a holiday abroad this year, so be it. We dont want to be in the same mess next year. Covid is here to stay. It's not going away. I caught it last year and it was scary.
1
What if he intends to march into Germany? Putin is from a generation where East Germany was control by Russia.
1
That's because the EU Commission failed to order vaccines in a timely manner. There was a global pandemic and Brussels was slow to act. It's also the case that the UK funded the research and development of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine in exchange for first supply of the AZ vaccine if it was successful. The 41 Million vaccines have been exported by vaccine companies to countries that placed orders months before Brussels woke up. The EU Commission even stopped individual countries like Germany and Italy ordering their own vaccines. The EU Commission doesn't own those vaccines and the EU Commission has not exported any vaccines. Brussels failure to order vaccines caused delays in manufacturing of vaccines across the EU. What a mess.
1
@insatsuki_no_koshou I'm sorry but you are very wrong. It's a well known fact the EU Commission did stop Germany ordering vaccines along with other EU members. Then the EU took over 3 months to place the order with AZ. This had nothing to do with safety testing. Now some EU countries are having to order and use vaccines from Russia and China that have not been tested or given the green light for use in the EU, like Hungary and Poland. All the EU Commission needed to do was write a letter of intent to order the vaccines if they worked and passed the safety and effectiveness tests. That 3 month delay meant many other countries around the world got to the front of the queue. Now countries like Italy that are so desperate have stopped exports of vaccines to Australia. This makes the EU look very bad to the world.
