Overnight is from 11.59pm to 12.01am. So if your still awake at 12.02am and then go for a rest afterwards it's perfectly fine on a public highway. Yes I have personally tested this when the police attempted to move me on after a local B&B made an incorrect complaint because they decided they wanted me moved after an hour of parking up. As long as your vehicle is legal to be on the public highway. Of course you need permission to parking on private land (day or night). Remember under the terms of your driving license you should never drive when your tired and it is dangerous to do so. So it is perfectly legal to sleep/rest in a vehicle of any type in a safe place, on the public highway. (Don't park on double yellow lines/restricted parking areas etc. (Always take all your rubbish with you and deposit it in a bin later on) It doesn't cost anything to be respectful and polite and helpful to locals. Pick up the rubbish left by complete morons who want to ruin our beautiful UK countryside.

Thanks for the warning

Yep I've tested this. Talking about a mobile phone provider that I've never used because the network doesn't work in my area. Within hours I'm getting adds and pop ups and emails.

@truth.speaker Get small cctv cameras on the outside of your van, so you don't have to open the door in the middle of the night to random strangers knocking on your van. Or open the black out blinds.

These new rules are bonkers. Sadly it's only a matter of time before these new rules cause fatalities. These new rules lack common sense.

Making a statement inside your own home towards the police is not a public order offense. While the officer might not like a comment, they are not classed as a member of the public. Its only when a member of the public can hear a comment and be offended that the police can act. Far too often the police think they are above the law and think their own hurt feelings count while on duty. This is why everyone needs to record all intetactions with the police, especially when the police have a nasty habit of losing their body camera footage or they obstruct the request for the footage long enough for it to be deleted or recorded over. Recording the police is likely to keep them more honest or at least its not your word agaist theirs because courts always favour the words of the police.

The energy companies can turn off so called "Smart Meters" at the press of a button, if you don't pay your energy bills. While your plugged into the grid (using gas and electric) you will have to pay. With a CCJ you won't be able to rent a new house for at least 6 years.

Sorry but they are not criminals unless they are convicted. Surely your title is click bait?
2
@dazryan3463 As it's written at the moment. If your asked to move, Simply move and they can't do anything. Add CCTV to the outside of your camper and you cant get the blame for rubbish that was dumped there before you parked up.

The police told me the path was part of the highway, so it didn't matter that my neighbour mounted the drop kerb outside MY house at speed and nearly hit me and my child.
2
What a joke. Lock them up. How much tax payers money did this court case cost? You also have to question that very low valuation they put on the criminal damage. You can guarantee some local councilor fudged those figures to keep them out of prison.
2
But they walk away without entering. So they clearly don't have legitimate legal paperwork.

I have a touch screen radio/stereo in my vehicle. That is connected to my phone. Can I legally change the music on my stereo while I'm driving? I never touch the phone while driving.

Can't trust the Communist Labour Party. We are living in a Dictatorship in the UK.
1
Just move the vehicle when your asked and they can't do anything. Plus you have to be causing damage/distress for criminal action. This new law is aimed at travellers who cause damage and distress every time they set up camp in large numbers. Also there needs to be more than one caravan/camper camping on private land for the land owner to do anything. As I stated before, If your asked to move by a private land owner, just move on and they cant do anything. Install CCTV that has a real HDR recorder, so you can't get blamed for any rubbish that was dumped there before you parked up.

Stop funding the BBC's criminal activities that have covered up for the worst type of sex offenders for decades. We all know who the old ones were but how many more are there?. That's before you consider the biased BBC doesn't represent the majority of the British publics ideals. Or That the BBC employs thugs to try and force/bully/threaten the vulnerable, which is well documented on social media thousands of times.

I didn't get the alarm/alert. I hadn't turned anything off.

Communist Starlin/Starmer wants to remove freedom of speech.
1
I totally agree with you. You got it spot on.
1
Don't open the window. Otherwise they will say they smell alcohol or drugs. Then they can do what they like to you.

I'm not insured or paid or trained to do the job. Who is going to financially provide for my family if I'm badly injured or worse killed.
1
Surely you can call yourself anything these days. As a bloke/male I can identify as anything I like. Mr/Mrs/Miss/him/her/Dr etc. So I can identify as anything I want. What a wonderful world we live in. LOL
1
This is another move towards Communist control by Labour.
1
Just take it as a compliment. Even if the Tesco worker needs glasses. LOL

Try over staying in the USA or Australia. You get the boot asap. Then future visits to that country are restricted or removed.

Go Woke, Go Broke.

The majority of ebikes are seriously over powered. Most are electric motorbikes. They simply need licensing.

What about using a CB radio or VHF/UHF radio? Also I have a fixed Android stereo head unit in my dashboard which is a touch screen, which controls music and hands free calls from my phone and acts as a satnav and at a press of a button it acts as a reversing monitor because I don't have rear windows in my van. Am I allowed to touch the fixed Android head unit? At no point do I touch my phone while driving.

How is it possible to gain a Warrant of entry into a private home on the grounds of a suspected but not proven None Criminal offence? That sounds like another BBC dirty trick, to threaten/bully/mislead the general public, into thinking the BBC have more powers than they actually have.
1
@dazryan3463 We have to keep pushing back as much as we can to retain the small freedoms we have. There are so many people into campervans and many more that want to get campers in the future, that they will have to bend. In the meantime we have to educate ourselves about the grey areas. So we can continue doing what we want. I am sure the vanlife community could arrange some very large protest meets every weekend in each area that decided to enforce new rules harshly. Until they decide to provide free facilities like waste dump sites and fresh water points bins and free park ups. We could literally bring large areas to a complete standstill. When the national trust started talking rubbish about restricting visitors the locals that totally rely on revenue from visitors were up in arms. They want/need our money in these areas. You only have to look at the number of clothes washer/dryer points that have sprung up on petrol stations and supermarkets in the last 3 years to see how popular vanlife has become in the UK.

@jamesclark6257 I agree with you. But even if you park up in a spot and a couple more campervans turn up later that don't know you or each other. That will still be classed as an illegal encampment. This is where problems arise. Because there are limited places you can park up anyway. Yes I have no problem moving on if asked. Even if it is in the middle of the night but where do you go from there? All the parking spots locally will already be taken. Personally i'm happy to park up in any random street for the night. Will that cause problems for local residents? Probably. I do understand why they need more control/powers over travellers that move caravans from one site to the next. Leaving piles of rubbish and robbing everyone blind but we all understand these new rules will effect law abiding people in campervans more because they are easier targets than travellers. Local councils will abuse these new powers. Sadly so will the police. You only have to look at the way they over stepped with the covid guidelines, when they started handing out fines for people sitting on a park bench.

That is standard practise (in both directions) for UK & EU the energy sector to share energy supplies in case there is a shortage or fault. It happens every day. Peak times in the UK it's cheaper to buy french electric and Vis Versa, that France buys electric from the UK when it's their peak times. The UK gas fields filled the German underground gas storage facilities all summer and they sell it back to the UK in the winter and the UK pays a premium price to buy back our own gas. All set up under EU rules and regulations decades ago and agreed by the Labour party when they were in power. Also removing the UK's own gas storage facilities.

Hurty feeling of over sensitive people. Plus loads of freeloading financial GREED.

@paulcollyer801 Totally agree with you. I've lost count how many times they have attempted to install smart meters to my house. Using lies, threats, scams, misinformation and simply making appointments without telling me and turning up on the doorstep to try and install "Smart Meters". Recently I got a letter and email and a couple of text messages stating that as part of my supply contract I had agreed to have smart meters installed. Another lie. I wonder how many people were tricked by that? Probably thousands. The moment I contacted my energy supplier they backed down and said they had made a "mistake" !!!!! I have made them record my refusal to have so called Smart Meters installed many times. To the point I've threatened them with a harassment law suit. So they employ third party companies to contact me instead. Who apparently have no assess to the energy companies records.

Don't buy anything advertised on YT. The vast majority of YT adverts are scams. Or over priced junk you can buy for a 1/4 of the time.

The company Royal Mail is trying to make all there employees sign zero hour contracts and work 7 days a week, to compete with other delivery companies.
1
@RomanHistoryFan476AD Actually if you want to be politically correct Zero Hour contracts were designed by the Labour Party. The vast majority of councils using Zero hour contracts are Labour controlled councils. Of course that doesn't bode well for your political comment. Which was way off topic.

@amandamorgan7626 Postal workers don't work 9-5pm. The alternative is none English speaking postal workers who cant find your address. Only saying that because we have had a constant flow for postal workers over the past 4 years that cant read English and we go weeks without post via royal mail. Then the next person has 2-4 weeks walk around with a trainer. Rinse and repeat.
1
@RomanHistoryFan476AD I agree politicians don't work in the interests of the general public a lot of the time. Zero hour contracts aren't good for people's financial stability.
