  1. Countries don’t choose to join NATO. Their political elites choose to join. Very rarely is there a democratic referendum to choose to join NATO.

  4. Other way around. These arms dealers are only allowed to sell without restrictions to NATO countries. They need new markets. A country joining NATO is a new market and a new source of money.

  6.  @RandomPerson-lk6cb  They have no real military. Its just Americans mostly holding their country. Their arms are purchased exclusively from us. I wouldn't argue that Japan is a colonized state at all. Its more of a American vassal nation and a junior imperialist partner. More of a willing subordinate than a colonial victim.
