Sadly, but as expected by any account.

@38vausa no excuse for most governments being about a month behind even the WHO to react.

Herd immunity is inevitable, but getting there within a year would be paid for in a lot of blood. Outside Stockholm we've been lucky so far in Sweden, but it's just a matter of time with all this free mobility. If Stockholm would have been locked down two weeks ago we could have bought a lot of time, but all the politicians and industry high rollers live there so that was never an option. The short term econemy has been priority number one from the start here. Hospitals are running out of basic gear that could easily be manufactured locally but we don't want to upset any market too much so we're begging other countries to sell us some of theirs. It goes hand in hand with how the primary trend in swedish healthcare over the last decade has been privatisation.

Closing schools sounds like a good idea for any country with confirmed cases right now.

A rising number of comments are from people who obviously haven't been watching much of the content of this channel. Go back several days and watch/listen to all of it. It's totally worth it if you're really interested, and if you're not then I don't know why you're commenting already.

I'm not surprised to have seen many countries, likely most, being at least three weeks late in taking any actions of even limited effect.

Simple hygiene and social guidelines is precisely what we need to get out to the public in any flu season. Should be a daily segment on public TV and radio for a while. People do not take the simple precautions seriously enough, while happily spending time pouring over rumors and dumb theories.

In the west we're not even making sure there will be basic masks available to people. Let alone prepare for any large number of sick in advance. It will take a number of deaths before most governments wake up.

They should really start watching this channel. 🙏

News story just appeared about how 57 swedish ski tourists are coming back from Austria now. I doubt they will be tested at all unless showing apparent symptoms. The story mentions their having been in quarantine for two weeks, but then describes how they have in fact not been quarantined. One interviewee was eager to come home to socialise with family and friends.

@Cptnbond I do hope the authorities surprise us and test all of them. I don't see why they would change now though.

@tks4414 Going out shopping is not being in quarantine. I don't see how there could be confusion around the meaning of the word. The DN article uses a couple of different expressions like they were interchangeable, when they're not.

Personal responsibility to not alleviate the spread of any virus should be pushed for on a daily basis. The virus will eventually appear more or less everywhere, but delaying it is worth a whole lot like the good doctor says. Media however is more interested in pushing out stories that are of no real worth to the average viewer. And officials tend to be more interested in keeping tensions down.
