I read a great book about it that empathises the real problem is the russian government throwing money at massively decreasing returns I.e exhausted soviet factories getting huge subsidies despite being technologically archaic purely because of political connections and the bad job made of developing industry in Siberia absolutely miles from anywhere and difficult to access when they should have done so in european russia instead. You have situations where co dependent industries are situated thousands of miles away from each other with really bad infrastructure. And like their military they build or develop hardly anything new, just have a plan to rely on the soviet industry forever. Alongside that massive brain drain, huge alcohol problem causing early death, bad health and unreliable workers and a massively underdevloped/undervalued creative and arts sector (which even the soviets realised was important)

Not saying its right to celebrate the shark attack, but estonia, lithuania and latvia had significant russian populations planted there to cause trouble and try to justify keeping the areas joined to the russian empire and USSR. These russian groups tend to live in their own ghetto areas which are known to be dirty and full of trouble. Russia invaded these countries in 1940 and borught in communism and the secret police who murdered thousands of civilians for political reasons. When these countries tried to break away peacefully in the 90s with a majority of their populations support, the russians invaded with paratroopers and tanks etc. to stop them.

  100.  @Iliceon  the 90s situation in yugoslavia didnt just explode overnight, it was a result of decades of serbian dominance over the smaller republics. They used the fact serbs were the most populous group and the serbian communist party the biggest in yugoslavia to bend things until it snapped. Milosevic came from the communist party by the way. Their actions, especially in the 80s after Tito's death and milosevic going to kosovo to stir up trouble, created the nationalist sht show on all sides we saw. I believe Tito probably honestly wanted ethnic harmony in yugoslavia but he inadvertently caused a lot of resentment through the ethnic groups, croats especially. I suggest you look up the events of The Croatian Spring during Tito's time. There are lots of parallels with Lenin and Tito- naive utopians who made a mess of internationalism, had horrific people take over after their death- Stalin's policy of russian dominance of the USSR was pushed through in the 30s. Of course serb nationalists are famous for their selective amnesia and were only ever innocent and persecuted (despite the fact they managed to take over the huge Yugoslav army JNA due to their dominance in the 90s). They will never talk about this stuff.

  343. Your video was correct. The hypocrisy over israel has just made me feel like im going insane for years. The lies, the accusations of anti semitism at the sniff of any criticism (think of russophobia bs accusations). How is it just ignored? Strategy and religion I suspect. Id love to have another jewish state in the world, or many others, and im sure their governments wouldnt commit ethnic cleansing and murder everyday, but best of all israel would have to drop the 'criticism of our disgusting behaviour is anti semitism' sht. Im often critical of zelensky but I believe overall hes a good leader, and hes been right to blank israel, especially considering israel sent no help to ukraine at all and sheltered russian oligarchs and their vast stolen riches when the war and sanctions started

Most ukrainian people support palestine, the government pay lipservice to israel because its the something western governments who's support ukraine also needs do, simple as that.   354. I find this whole thing of the last few months in the west of demanding anybody connected to russia makes their viewpoint known loudly fucking ridiculous personally. Its the same people doing this who are saying things like Chekhov plays shouldnt be put on. There needs to be more cultural connection to the good things russia has to offer, not less if we are going to make the world any better. Also like you say these people have families back home in Russia they want to protect.

  362. There was a mass abandonment of rural villages and towns when the soviet union broke up. As you say, whole big factories supported single towns and had canteens, dormitories and shops attached to them but that came to end
