Waving of arms will usually generate adequate heat.

@JamesThompson-ol3eu I am on SS. The house is my main priority as it will apraise pretty highly when done. The corporate grab has forced construction materials to the moon so I nibble on the cheap stuff. Can't work on it a lot due to lack of funds. At this point the cars are mainly hobbies so they get shorted although I would like to drive the Eldorado a bit as its a beautiful monster. Just has minor problems. Started on the boat refrigerator last night. Will need a drier. I think the heat pump is cooked. I could slowly start recapping the preamp as they should'nt be too much but I have little patience with such work. Maybe short sessions. I picked up two other preamps cheap on Ebay to use. There is a clapped out 40 foot RV by me that uses a 455 Olds and the Eldo FWD trans I have had my eye on. But obviously my plate is full. Fixing things is kind of a sickness. I think its resistence to entropy and eventual death. I can't stop. Also have a partially disassembled Revox Reel to reel in storage which is worth a fair amount if recapped. Don't even want to think about it.

I need one the size of a grand piano.

That would be the "Off" button.

I had a three motor reel to reel recorder that would force you to strip down to your underware and put up towels to soak up the sweat. Any tube equipment will do the same.

Leviticus is'nt it?

All of the thermostats on my cheapos fail in about 2 weeks. Then I open them up and bypass the thermostat. Then the fan fails in about 2 years.

@JamesThompson-ol3eu Well firstly since they are only $12-15 I have to put a value on my time. They are my only heat source on my boat and I don't want to be shivering for a couple of days while I try to resucitate a cheap ass chinese heater. The inside components are quite cheap. I have discovered a mystery switch which looks like old distributor contact points. I will guess this is some sort of overheat shut down. The function of this switch seems somewhat capricious. Just cooling it down seems to have no effect. As per instructions you unplug the unit and maybe it will run again after some unspecified time period. I have shorted the switch and still gotten no fan. Sometimes just bumping the heater with your foot will send it into shut down. As I said the temp control is a POS. I doubt if the ceramic component would ever wear out. I only have limited tolerance for jacking with this cheap POS as I have many expensive things that I could jack with. Just fixed my 33 year old high end CD player with a simple 10 minute adjustment of the laser power. I think I could fix any of them now. New cost was $600.00. Easy peasy. Have a valuable 40 year old preamp that needs recapping. I doubt I have the patience to do this but the time would be better spent on that than a heater. $750.00 recapped on Ebay. Also have 70 Eldorado, 74 TR 6, 85 Saab, 86 Saab all wanting my attention. Oh and I am rebuilding a house gut rehab. Want to overhaul the fridge on my 40 ft. boat. The heat pump is broken. Finish a little upholstery. The fan showed no continuity when I put power across the contacts. If shorted it would have blown the breaker. Into the trash it went and over to Wallmart for a new one.

Build her an igloo and lay in a supply of walrus fat.

Have you tested with a punk rock band in the bedroom?

But torque is the more important factor for street racing.

The really expensive ones use infra red light bulbs. Wondered if that is better in any way?

You have to put those low power personal heaters down your pants to do any good.

Natural gas burns at something like 2000 degrees while electric grids are more like hundreds of degrees. Heat transfer is temperature dependent so the electric unit will have far less efficiency in warming air.

Take the $12 one.
