  8.  @JamesThompson-ol3eu  Well firstly since they are only $12-15 I have to put a value on my time. They are my only heat source on my boat and I don't want to be shivering for a couple of days while I try to resucitate a cheap ass chinese heater. The inside components are quite cheap. I have discovered a mystery switch which looks like old distributor contact points. I will guess this is some sort of overheat shut down. The function of this switch seems somewhat capricious. Just cooling it down seems to have no effect. As per instructions you unplug the unit and maybe it will run again after some unspecified time period. I have shorted the switch and still gotten no fan. Sometimes just bumping the heater with your foot will send it into shut down. As I said the temp control is a POS. I doubt if the ceramic component would ever wear out. I only have limited tolerance for jacking with this cheap POS as I have many expensive things that I could jack with. Just fixed my 33 year old high end CD player with a simple 10 minute adjustment of the laser power. I think I could fix any of them now. New cost was $600.00. Easy peasy. Have a valuable 40 year old preamp that needs recapping. I doubt I have the patience to do this but the time would be better spent on that than a heater. $750.00 recapped on Ebay. Also have 70 Eldorado, 74 TR 6, 85 Saab, 86 Saab all wanting my attention. Oh and I am rebuilding a house gut rehab. Want to overhaul the fridge on my 40 ft. boat. The heat pump is broken. Finish a little upholstery. The fan showed no continuity when I put power across the contacts. If shorted it would have blown the breaker. Into the trash it went and over to Wallmart for a new one.
