Why the (insert very large cuss word here, or multiples there of) are you referring to the killing of Admiral Yamamoto as an "assassination"? He was an officer in uniform in a combat zone on a military aircraft with fighter cover in a time of war. He was exactly who it was totally legal for an armed combatant to kill. This is not a small point so again I ask, why are you referring to it as an assassination? You usually are so good at this.

@Cbabilon675 "So I know the context. If I can help you out." There's context? Drach referred to the combat death of Adm. Yamamoto as an assassination multiple times when it wasn't, for the reasons stated in my post. Assassination is a loaded legal term, as you should know, and its wrongful use is dangerous.

@Drachinifel But you are responsible for your answer, which is my point. Calling it an assassination these days makes people think it is a war crime when it clearly wasn't. And many will go there. One key role of historians is correcting popular misconceptions. This, I fear, is a big one that needs correction. Perhaps I am wrong and it was just an innocent phrasing, and lord knows you answered so many questions on the fly as to make this seem like a minor point. For those reading through let me make clear Drachinifel has been excellent in his presentation of history. I have seen all his video's, including the now missing ones. My largest complaint is all the books he's "forced" me to buy.
