  2. As to the "you don't have to carry a gun everywhere" line, another YouTube channel I respect, @inifel, has an ongoing rift about the US Navy and the "USS Second Amendment". Back in the day, before missiles and such, they did like their guns! In WWII he has this description of their attitude. "Is there an empty space on the ship? Why is there an empty space on the ship? Put A Gun There!!" Just look at any US ship in the Pacific from mid 1943 on and count the AA guns. As a bonus any time you got close enough the pompoms did a great job of hosing a ships bridge and decks. (See Battle off Samar for a good example)
