It's funny how no one can understand marines, but marines can understand everyone else. -__- Plus, that was the 70s. There's no way a marine drill can slap a private across the face twice, for not knowing his left from right today.

For the same reason "nobody understands marines" but yet, marines understand everyone else. Plus, it's not difficult to know what happens in marine boot. It's literally all you guys ever talk about, from reception to graduation. It's as if learning basic $h1t is the only thing you'll ever do in your entire military career.

But, if you actually think that a DI will be able to punch you in the stomach, or smack you across the face for the infractions in that movie NOW a days, you're insane. I know, I know....."You were never a marine, so you have no idea....blah blah". You guys are hilarious. And BTW, army DS's can, and DO curse/insult boots. Even today. But neither DS's NOR DI's can smack you around like a pimp. You need to go pedal that crap to someone whose brain is broken, son. We're smarter than that. LOL!

Out of the three U.S. military branches that use the Sergeant rank, I counted 15. So that's a wee bit shy of the 52 that you spewed, wouldn't you say, Mr. Exaggerator? -_- Maybe you're just not able to grasp that different countries' militaries do things differently. Or maybe, you're one of those who believes that the Canadian army should set the standard by which all other militaries implement their ranking system. If I wanted to be an 'elohssa', I could give YOU $h1+ about having a Master Corporal, or (and I LOVE this one....) having your Warrant Officers interspersed with your enlisted ranks. But, I'm not, so I won't. ;-)

In terms of the branches' respective infantries, how exactly are marines trained differently? Also, I seriously doubt the people calling DI's DI's, are gonna stop just because you don't like it. -_-

@shawnwitte2279 They teach drill, they're Sergeants....Drill Sergeants. The word instructor is implied because of what they do. As far as most people are concerned, they're interchangeable. Getting insulted is just silly. I asked for specifics where their respective infantry TACSOPs are concerned, and you're up here talking about boot camp, where kids are learning basic stuff. That's precious. After reading your last sentence, it is crystal clear that you know absolutely 'ttihs kcaj' about the army, and I literally wasted keystrokes on you. The truth is, you don't have an answer, because you know you're so full of bat guano, it's gushing out of your earholes. Have a nice day, sir.

But here we are 5 posts in, and you've STILL yet to answer a very easy question. But, at this point, I know it's useless. If you still can't figure out that I indeed DID serve, then my initial thoughts about you were spot on. If you did serve, I'd be willing to bet money that you were a nasssty pog. The United States Army is decidedly NOT an "occupying force". You may want to have your Commandant update the shpeel your DI's spoon-feed you while in boot, and actually tell the truth. Understand that army infantry and marine infantry are almost identical. Unless you guys are secretly absorbed into the Borg collective when you get to boot, you're MEN. Just like soldiers. 2. You say you lost one battle, then you say the army lost one. But you're strong for losing one, and the army is weak for losing one. That makes no sense.(BTW, there's no such word as "looses")

Now, I can see your having a 'we're-omnipotent-superbeings' attitude, if you were to go up against nations like Andorra, Liechtenstein, or Togo. But, ask yourself this question....If the United States were to go to war with the likes of China, Russia, or even NK, and the army DIDN'T participate, where would you be? Wait, don't answer. I'm pretty sure you already know. IF you're being honest. So you'd better pray, and thank whatever deity you worship, that the army exists. Because without us, it'd be goodnight nurse. You NEED us, but we certainly don't need you. You'll do well to remember that. I think it's pretty funny how marines think that soldiers can ever know what goes on in the marine corps if they weren't there. But, marines certainly know what goes on in every other branch, because all you ever see are comparisons. "Keep in mind a DI isnt going to get physical on camera." But, of course, the same can't be said for the DS, huh? You guys are hilarious.

Boot camp is just a nick name. If we're being honest, NEITHER branch has boot camp. The marines' basic is officially called "recruit training". The term is interchangeable for all services, since they're all boots. You guys just get hung up, and all bent out of shape over the most miniscule poop. -_-

Army - Basic training/OSUT Marines - Recruit training Navy - Recruit training Air Force - BMT Also, in the army, it's called head gear, not a hat. The head is a naval term that you guys took when they created you. It's nautical. In the army, it's called a latrine, not a bathroom. And trousers are trousers. No idea where you got your info from. But, it appears that your 'attention to detail' comes up a tad bit short of factual.
