  1. Stalin wanted to make eastern european countries as a buffer and their stratagy to take Berlin is purely to force the eastern block countries to fall under a communist government friendly to the USSR. And the allies fell for it.

  4. I think that serveral reasons why Stalin would not make peace with the Germans in late 1942. One they where winning. Two they wanted to take Berlin, and the reason to take Berlin was to install pro-soviet government in Eastern European countries so they can have a good buffer if the western allies decided to invade the Soviet Union. They in end of war also declared war in Japan to aid Mao and to create a buffer in Asia in China, in Korea and they wanted northern Japan but the allies already caught up with soviet plans nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki and made peace with Japan. Also they nuked Japan to save american soldiers lives.
