  12. Everybody knows that Chicago is a mess but what doesn't get reported nearly enough is how it affects the rest of Illinois. Many folks flee Chicago and come to central and southern IL, bringing with them the violence and dysfunction. That's why the rest of the state pretty much hates Chicago.
