Having your own grocery store in your home has become increasingly more popular. Idk if the preppers or couponers started it, but it is one of my fave things to watch on social media. And I think it's largely an American phenomenon because Non Americans are always in the comments whining about it. I love it. Lol. Another great vid, Christine!!

Agreed. Most of it is trash and will only feed the pharmaceutical industry.

This makes my eye twitch. Lol. Folks who don't know how to shop sales can't be my friends. Seriously, I can't with these people. Thankfully, they'll be the first ones eaten in the zombie apocalypse. πππππ

Just a friendly reminder that the Fourth of July sales will be gearing up over the next few weeks here in America. It's a good time to price pork as in some areas pork may be at its lowest price of the year. Same with condiments; BBQ sauces will be at stock up prices. Happy sales shopping!! π

This is a pipe dream for most, unfortunately.

Can't believe folks are already complaining. The frugality here is in stocking up when things are on sale. As she states in the vid, you're saving in the long run, really, which you would know if you know how to budget. How y'all living frugally but not budgeting correctly? Couldn't be me!! Lol. Christine's tip on shopping those Christmas clearance sales is GOLD. You can stock up on A LOT of household and personal care products after Christmas. It's about being strategic and intentional. For example, in my area many grocery stores have turkeys marked down even more after Christmas. The smart folks will buy as many turkeys as they can budget for then proceed to preserve the turkey in as many ways possible. They can freeze, freeze dry, make broth, etc. You can pretty much do everything with turkey you can do with chicken. You can fill up your pantry, freezer and fridge on these post-holiday clearance sales. Yet another great video, Christine!!

Not shocking, really. Unless they're cooked with a smoked meat, beans are gross on their own. I will only eat them if they're slow cooked with smoked ham hocks or smoked turkey. Other than that, it's a no for me. Lol.
7
I pray you are thriving.

Very very cool!! I have been a huge advocate for folks taking advantage of holiday sales. Holiday sales can also be a great time to stock up. Over the next few weeks we'll be seeing the Fourth of July sales starting. It's a good time to look for pork stock up prices. You may be able to find pork at its cheapest price of the year. Many BBQ sauces and condiments will also see deep discounts. The 4th of July is a good condiment stock up time.

Potato salad is a summer staple for many so you may see potatoes be dirt cheap at some stores. Please remember that potatoes can be canned! You may not need that 60 pound bag but what you dont use now can be canned and added to your pantry!!

Buy some chickens and water glass your eggs. π

Christine, guurl, I just watched one of those annoying videos of young people complaining about this, that and the other. One of the complainers had the nerve to go off on no spend challenges, calling them unrealistic. A lot of these young folks are sabotaging their own financial journeys.

Holidays are PRIME sales time here in America. I try to tell folks to hit those holiday sales for some deep discounts. Fourth of July is approaching and we'll see condiments on sale as well as meat. In my area the few weeks leading up to the fourth always sees sweet corn dirt cheap. In other areas baked beans and potatoes may be deeply discounted. I love a good holiday sale.π

Β @danielleonfirehernandez5150Β It was your civic duty to say yes!! πππ

A great way to use frozen veggies is in stew and pot pie filling. Make a ginormous batch of stew or soup and can up the leftovers. More yummy homemade goodies for your pantry. π
3
Β @shawneeGoesΒ Beans are great for frugal meal planning, they're just not for me. Plain pinto beans with just some salt sounds absolutely dreadful. πππ I just can't. Lol. That said, I actually think a lot of folks should add more beans to their garden. They're not for me but they could really be a budget friendly option for large families. π
3
βΒ @shawneeGoesΒ Fried. In.Bacon.Grease? Fried? Bacon grease, huh? Marry that man!! πππππ

You're right on the money!! πFood preservation is so important!! I really wish folks understood that knowing HOW to shop is super important. Even if you may not need it now, if you see it for sale at a very cheap price, buy it and preserve it for your pantry and/or freezer. When you need it, you'll have it and not have to go buy it when it's not on sale. I especially like this when meat is on sale.
3
Sounds like a great pantry!!

Chilli is something that can be made at home in large batches and canned or frozen. It actually saves money in the long run.

Lily's chocolate is inedible for me. It's AWFUL.

I had never even heard of Costco until recently. I grew up going to Sam's Club as my mom had a membership.

Β @debiwillis9045Β I love love love barbecued neck bones. My sister has a special touch when she cleans neck bones and she gets them absolutely spotless. Soooo yummy!
2
Β @PerryWycheΒ Living frugally is the way to go!! The young folks don't get it. They want to make tons of money and live the flashy life.

Christine, gurrl, you have GOT to do a video series on buying MEAT in bulk. I feel like sooo many folks are missing out on great meat deals by only buying their meat from these big grocers. In my area we have several sources for bulk meat. When I was a kid my parents would get meat packs to fill up our freezer. I would go crazy for grilled polish sausages. They were delicious! And I loved that we would buy them by the box. One meat pack would feed a lot of us for a very long while.
2
Christine, guuurl, why you trying to do battle with a spider? Lol. Ain't no way!! These brown ones are so huge they look like they pay taxes and got kids in college! NO MA'AM!! π
2
The best snacks for kids are fruits and veggies which can be grown and preserved. I don't know why more parents don't plant a garden with their kids. Let the kids pick what they want to plant and make it a learning opportunity for them. Do they like hummus? Maybe plant some chickpeas and garbanzo beans. Go binge Becky's vids over on the Acre Homestead channel and learn how to preserve your harvests. It's long past time to stop relying solely on these overpriced grocery stores. Teach the next generations to be self sufficient.

You won't know if you qualify for assistance if you don't check. I recommend at least checking. Most Human Services agencies have online applications. You won't know until you try.
2
High quality for a high price. It's $22 for a ONE pound can at my local WM. It's totally overpriced. Hard pass.
2
Prayerfully you will beat this gross disease. God bless you!!

Β @emmalouie1663Β Yikes! While I agree with some of your sentiments, your overall outlook is pretty negative. Yes, being poor is awful (especially if you're disabled with no kids) but here in the U.S. there are a number of opportunities to improve one's situation. It's not easy but it's doable. It's important to utilize the resources available to you and try to stay in a positive state of mind.
2
You don't need yeast to make good bread; just mix flour and water then store it covered at room temperature in your pantry. Great starter!

I love when influencers make these silly "I don't buy these things" videos because they're always trying to sell us something. Seriously. All influencers are just "low key" salespeople. They're always pushing some service, product or ideology. I ain't hating, just keeping it one hundred for the people.

All of these "aesthetic" fridge reorgs on social media using all these clear plastic bins aren't practical for most households. I notice that it's mostly young skinny women who exist on a diet of microgreens, smoothies, and fancy coffee drinks. They throw in some kimchi here and there.
1
βΒ @wallashakallaΒ I would advise you use the frozen veggies in a soup, stew, pie filling or casserole base. Prepare the soup or stew then can up the leftovers. More for your pantry!!

Both coffee and alcohol ages you. Everyone I know who regularly consume both all look at least ten years older than they are.

Β @TheSwimmom1Β I LOVE garlic hummus mixed into my scrambled eggs. So delicious!!! Chickpeas are underrated. π

Christine, how come you only ever mention your garden in passing? Growing their own produce is an excellent way folks can reduce the amount they're spending on food.

Students can earn college credits for free at many high schools. Parents should check with their kids' school and see if that program is available. Many hs seniors take those credits to community college to speed up their Associates degree.

It's that she's an absolute natural. So many YouTubers really shouldn't be on camera and are cringe but Christine is just a natural in front of the camera. She's funny and very knowledgeable and comes across likeable and trustworthy. She's a star.

I don't understand why so many Christians love Harry Potter. It's all Luciferian nonsense.

More folks need to be putting in gardens and growing their own food. You grow your own then can and freeze your harvest. California weather is awesome for agriculture. I follow a Californian who is growing like eight varieties of blueberries in his backyard!! I'm sick of folks making excuses. If you have teens, they're old enough to be put to work helping turn the backyard into a food forest. Tomatoes, zukes and potatoes are super cheap to grow. How many folks have these big backyards they're doing NOTHING with? All that real estate is basically GOLD right now. Enough excuses. Christine, please start a gardening planning 101 series.

Doesn't Wal-Mart still sell those cheap bags of thighs? All you have to do is soak them in milk to get rid of the gamey taste. Good chicken.
1
Lol. The average American would laugh at these tips then go about their Starbucks powered lives.

In my area we've been hit with blackouts due to weather and a crumbling infrastructure. Having your own grocery store has become essential. Folks building up these home stores is some of the best content of social media. I love getting ideas just watching others build their pantries. Generators are also a must-have. After some storm comes along and destroys the electricity, these power companies be like "we hope to have the power back in about two days..." One week later you still without electricity. Nah. People sick of the okie doke. Imma have food and power regardless. ππ

Total Lorelai and Rory vibes. Too funny!

Yeah, snack food is actually still pretty cheap if you know where to shop. That said, popcorn is generally super cheap and can be popped at home and customized in a very large number of ways. I highly suggest folks on a budget look to affordable snacks that can be prepared at home. For the potato chips fiends, I suggest planting some russets. They're super cheap and one healthy harvest can feed a family for months.

The Helix commercial is annoying. Otherwise, good video. π
