@LouieMdeP Well I talked about this with my sister, who lives in Germany part-time and we both agreed, that it all started with West Germany having to invest too much into East Germany after the Berlin wall fell - and although she disagrees with me constantly on this, bc in her eyes "putin got provoked and is a victim" - I'd say, then that's simply bc ru had sucked East Germany dry. I don't even know, how she could agree on the fact it went downhill since ~1991/fall of the soviet union, but then she can NOT draw the only logical conclusion? Edit: Or at the very least, the soviets never bothered to rebuild East Germany but only kept it occupied til their empire collapsed.
