We've all seen the so called "Russian restraint" in Bucha, Mariupol, countless other Ukrainian villages and cities, in the still on-going bombardments of civilians and their infrastructures like hospitals, power grid, etc, not to mention all the torture chambers found in previously Russian occupied areas like Kherson, even in the basements of monasteries, etc, which isn't a "single incident" at all but points to systematic, routinely done atrocities ... I often wonder, what exactly all those pro-Russian English speaking mouthpieces of Putin like Ritter, McGregor, J. Hinkle, P. Lancaster, etc and others are even defending here on YouTube so passionately?

"...layers of rose coloured glasses..." came from Russian President Gorbachev's "Perestroika" and "Glasnost" ideas, which also became kinda "movements" and common worldviews in the West** - including the fall of the Berlin wall and the most well-known song of that time "Winds of changes"/The Scorpions* - but only the West truly loves this very special and trustworthy Russian President long-term, while Putin's Russia's viewing him almost as a traitor now, that he's dead.
I think, President Gorbachev was genuinely and seriously into the idea of world peace, de-escalation and reducing the number of nukes, which in hindsight led to our greatest, most regretted mistake EVER:
Persuading Ukraine into giving up their nuclear arsenal and countless other weapon systems, that had remained in their hands after the relatively fast collapse of the Soviet Union in the years from 1989 to1991, helping Ukraine to maintain those weapons properly as some kinda "security guarantee" is, what we should've done instead back then imo.
The 1994 (I believe) "Budapest Memorandum" was built on too much trust to an unstable Russia in the hands of an equally unstable Russian President Yeltsin, which all in all wasn't a secret at all and in hindsight we should've known, this'd not work out that well.
* & Btw, "Wind of Changes" got new lyrics, bc The Scorpions weren't feeling ok with singing the old lyrics anymore ... it's worth listening into it now/2022 version.
** Normally I'd say, we got lured into believing our own wishful thinking, however only Putin took advantage and used our new trust in Russia against us.

I agree on everything, especially about Konstantin/inside Russia NOT being a pro-Ukrainian channel in any shape or form at all ... he only whines a lot about how badly Russia and his Russians are/were affected by the war, they're mostly (and often actively) supporting.
Also if I'm not mistaken, last summer he went on holidays to a Crimean beach of all places, then posted a video titled something along the lines of "vacation but unhappy, I wonder why?" ... I mean come on, really Konstantin?
Not to mention describing his return to Russia as "leap of faith", when he left the US; but he never really told what happened to his first marriage with his American wife, who had at first accompanied him to Russia - I strongly suspect, he only wants his US green card back, or whatever document(s) he'd need to stay there now - that's why he's complaining so much about "the bad and unfair treatment" of Russian draft dodgers "for refusing to kill Ukrainians"; he made several videos tackling this topic from slightly different angles I believe.
& His latest spleen is "I'm fearing for my life" bc the Russian politician Dmitri Medvedev wants capital punishment back for all draft dodgers who "put dirt on Russia"; come on that's over ~1 mio people, K!
He's a real drama queen.
Anyways...
*) Zack the Russian is top
*) The Russian Dude, also ok
A small correction, I believe you might've mixed up:
*) Reporting from Ukraine, daily updates and
*) Insights from Ukraine and Russia, the famous intercepted phone calls perfectly translated into English.

Well actually I'm always satisfied to see comments giving K crap for whining about Russia too much and saying truthful things to him, best summed up in "Ukrainians are having it a million times worse!"
So I think, of course there's a certain percentage of captive sect followers on his channel for sure, but the rest keeps a cool head and evaluates the overall situation pretty well.
Imo the most positive thing about K's channel is, that our western economies can't be in such bad shape, as long as there're so many people sending him cash through superchats, channel memberships and (I believe) also on Patreon, so that he can wear his boss shirts and fly to Dubai ... although it really boggles my mind, that most of these donating people seem to be unable to realize that he's more wealthy than them, living the high life.
& I analysed that argument relentlessly for months, to make sure I don't say this out of jealousy - however it's not money problems holding me back, it's age and bad health.
