  36. We train far too many of our own people with dumbed down qualifications. There are more medical school places available now than at any time in Britain’s history. The NHS pays world class salaries. We should be selecting more highly educated, properly trained, competent doctors from overseas.

  41. Females and males gain entry to medical schools with A-levels in Biology, Chemistry and another unspecified subject of their choice. The requirement to achieve a good grade in Physics and/or Mathematics was dropped some time ago. I would be interested to know who was Prime Minister when soft subjects for medicine became permissible. I recently replied to a male sixth form student on YouTube who objects with indignance to the term ‘junior doctor’ and is starting a medical degree in September with A-levels in Biology, Chemistry and History.
