@ColaScan The health services in USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are set up completely different to the NHS and medical students in those countries have to fund their own education and training. The salaries paid to doctors in those countries are therefore irrelevant.

@ColaScan £100k is a fraction of the total cost to taxpayers of churning out a dumbed down doctor from a British "university". The countries recruiting UK doctors are only interested in the brightest 10% who have already accepted job offers - the other 90% who would never clear the interviews for USA/Canada/Australia/ New Zealand have nowhere else to go and spend their days on picket lines making empty threats so there is no need for the government to inflate their salaries further.

@psps2034 It is a fact that a doctor who had been qualified for 10 years today earns more than a doctor who was qualified for 10 years back in 2008. What they are paid now is more than if they had been qualified for the same duration of time back in 2008.
