A junior doctor is an aggrandising misnomer for a medical graduate trainee apprentice with limited practical experience taking his/her first tentative steps to learn the trade under strict supervision and guidance. Until they are qualified to practice medicine independently they should not be referred to as ‘doctors’ and should be lower paid.
