  9.  @christopherblackburn6811  No one has a right to inflation matching pay rises. The media claim that any pay rise below the headline rate of inflation is an effective pay cut does not stand up to scrutiny.

  12.  @christopherblackburn6811  The state pension is an obvious exception as it is not particularly generous and a lot of poor pensioners rely on it as their sole source of income. Nobody on a doctors salary deserves or needs to be given inflation matching pay rises.

  13.  @christopherblackburn6811  The Blair government gave doctors pay rises way above inflation in 2004 - if the BMA went back five years from 2008 and worked out how much doctors pay has changed taking inflation into account any losses incurred between 2008 and 2023 would be cancelled out by the extravagant unrealistic rises they received between 2003 and 2008.
