  3. The Tories did not drag their heels - they gave junior doctors a 9% rise last summer. Labour did not have to cancel the pensioners winter fuel allowance - they should have kept it instead of giving junior doctors another bumper pay rise.

  4. Hunt should have made it illegal for doctors to strike after junior medics held him to ransom in 2016 bringing them into line with the police, army and prison officers. He did suggest at the time introducing legislation requiring medical graduates to work a statutory 5 years for the NHS to give taxpayers a return on their investment but did nothing about it.
