@Gary-le7dz Before this latest bumper rise NHS doctors were already among the highest paid in Europe but provided one of the worst services in Europe. An MB ChB degree should take no longer than 5 years to complete and a typical medical student should accumulate no more than £50k worth of debt.

NHS doctors are among the highest paid in Europe but provide one of the worst services in Europe. British taxpayers are getting poor value for money.

Where’s the money coming from?

Junior doctors average basic salary in the UK is £55,000. Consultants start on a basic salary of £86,000.

@trickard63905 Who needs doctors whose basic medical errors cost the lives of over 12,000 NHS hospital patients a year?

Overpaid w4nkers

Most of the strikers are indigenous.

The NHS employs more doctors now than at any other time in its 76 year history.

@bbb22246 The new breed of self-entitled homegrown doctors are poorly educated, badly trained and incompetent. Singaporean doctors working in the UK were aghast at the lack of medical knowledge and poor levels of understanding evident in the new breed of dumbed down British medics. Investors and politicians are not responsible for the deaths of over 12,000 NHS patients a year due to basic medical errors.

But the gullible British sheeple support them.

Taxpayers should

@trickard63905 Import highly educated, properly trained, competent doctors from abroad who are dedicated to patients and appreciate the generous salaries on offer.

@vincentblack7467 …. as if the indigenous ones do.

@stef4767 Anyone of average intelligence can become a doctor in dumbed down Britain.
1
@Ella-zk3mq Other countries can pick and choose and will select highly educated, properly trained, competent doctors which excludes the vast majority of dumbed down British medics.

@stef4767 Two decades ago the bungling Blair government awarded GPs, hospital doctors and consultants massive pay rises in return for huge reductions in their working hours. GPs no longer take any responsibility for their patients at evenings and weekends. Far from showing any gratitude the medics have been holding taxpayers to ransom by striking off and on for the past 8 years (doctor strikes were unheard of between 1975 and 2016) and I predict they will be putting patients lives at risk again with further strikes before the year is out.
