There’s a few real traditional villages in Shenzhen right next to the Hong Kong border doing way better than that . all that was done was it kept it’s land and built huge tower block apartments and rent them out the profit each year gets shared among its clan male and female but if you move away you don’t get a cut. The surplus funds has even had money left over to build apartments for the village clan women who never married to grow old in. Maybe the Chinese government should take a look at them clan villages that have been around before the Chinese government was even a thing them clans have been around for a few hundred years so must be doing something right

@Zachomara the ones in mainland have been smart and developed the land for long term income many of the villages in Hong Kong took the short term profit and sold most of it land in the 90s most of the money never lasted went on gambling drugs and womanizing.

@Zachomara well it was the wrong move my father inlaw took the gamble and brought all the land his village wanted to sell. you could be right many spent to much time watching the news and thought everything could be worthless over night
